  • Habit-changing goofs!

I will accidentally go to lick my finger if I get a little bit of peanut butter on it, out of habit!

Good thing my son calls this the "Napkins Diet" (even though it was an error)... I end up wiping everything lickable off on a napkin!

LOL! I hear ya..I am always either washing my fingers or wiping them off. Hard habit to break. But really makes one aware of all the mindless eating we do.

That's so funny! And true, I catch myself too right before I lick my finger. In my second week of induction I made a roast and just used the juices for my gravy. I made real gravy for my husband with flour. As I was making his gravy I tasted a tablespoon here and there to see if I needed to add anything (out of habit) . When I went to put the juices on my roast instead of the gravy I realized duh I just tasted his like 3 times. I was so mad at myself cause I didn't want to get kicked out of ketosis. Luckily it didn't affect me but I am much more careful these days!

Haley, that's so funny! It's true that those are hard habits to break! I'm glad it didn't affect you or throw you off!

Elsie-- isn't that the truth! You know, before Atkins I nibbled a lot of things I don't recall eating. Food Amnesia! Only my butt has excellent memory!

2big-- you, as usual, are so right on!

I was getting out an individual SYRUP cup for my daughter and got a drop on my finger.... MAN was it killer hard not to lick that! What is that.... 7,000 carbs?

I made pasta for the rest of the family and the only way I know to test if it is cooked enough is to eat it. Did that, chewed one chew, spit it out. On the floor.

"Hey everyone...dinner is ready...I just heard Mom spit on the floor." LOL! I heard you can throw it against the cupboard and if it sticks it is ready. But I just take a piece out and using my nail against my thumb cut it apart to see if it is cooked through.

Oh, man, the thumb thing! That sounds better than smashed spaghetti on the tile floor.

Although, frankly, it looked sort of interesting down there.......added texture to the smooth tile.

Yeah...but the throwing it at the cupboard adds a nice decorative touch....and spaghetti comes in so many nice colors now....

try baking and icing a double layer birthday cake. i've done it AT LEAST 4 times now on this woe (1.5 yrs). also a tonne of banana bread and cupcakes. how i haven't licked batter or icing off my fingers is beyond me. the smell of the icing alone is enough to drive me insane. but i've done it. and everytime i get thru it it just makes me feel that much stronger!
