  • What stimulated my appetite?

I had a serving of "Donald's Deep Dish Pizza Quiche" from the recipe board for breakfast. I believe each serving has 4g of carbs. Here's a list of the ingredients. Maybe, someone can enlighten me. I omitted the ones I didn't use and I used fresh tomatoes chopped up in my food processor. It was really delicious so I rated it a 10 but this is also the first time I did not feel satisfied after a meal and had cravings. I waited 2 hrs then did my indoor cycling workout and upper body training. I'm feeling "normal" now, thank goodness. Could it be the tomatoes? This would be the first time I had tomatoes since starting induction. Thanks for any feedback

    4 oz cream cheese
    4 large eggs
    1/3 cup whipping cream
    1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan
    1 tbsp fresh minced chives
    1/2 tsp minced garlic
    1/2 tsp dried Oregano
2 cups shredded full fat mozza cheese
    1/2 cup tomato sauce
    2 cups sliced mushrooms sauteed
2 Italian sausages, casing removed, crumbled and cooked.

Team Atkins! The fastest way & the only way to reshape my body. I lost 16 pounds of pure body fat in 3 short months. I went from 139 lbs (size 7/9)... to 123 lbs (size 3). Check out my album for before & after photos.

It could be the tomatoes. It could be the Italian sausage because that food is prone to have fillers that increase its carb count.

I don't know how many servings this made. It would be best to open a fitday.com account and enter the ingredients into it to find out what the real carb count is.

But whatever it is, be glad that at least you know that this recipe contains ingredients that adversely affect your body and you'll know the next time to avoid it.

Like not2late said, it could be the tomatoes or the sausage. My mother is doing Atkins for the second time, and she thinks the sweetness of tomatoes sabotaged her first induction, so she's cut them out this time.

If at all possible, try to by organic or good-quality sausage. Manufacturers often use wheat- or soy-based additives in commercial sausage that can cause weight gain. My favorite Trader Joe's brand had turbinado sugar as an ingredient, so I had to nix them. :-(

I agree with both democat and megs.

I'd also like to add that there are days when our bodies are 'hungrier' than others, too. One day I have to force myself to eat 600 calories, and the next day I could be shoulding, "whoa Nellie!" from the mountaintops at 1500 calories!

On a side note -- I also find that I have an insatiable appetite before a large drop in weight. You may have one coming. Just watch your intake and drink a big glass of water, but don't forget... If you're hungry, eat.

              Re: What stimulated my appetite?

many folk can't handle tomatoes and/or onions for the natural sugars in them during the weight loss phases of Atkins.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I especially like that post about a pending drop in weight . I will not eat tomatoes and sausage for a while. I can do without them.
