Re: Can I take the fall for you? Please learn from my stupidity!
I used to defend that junk more than I do now... it didn't take me long to get really tired of even the really 'good' ones... like EAS and slimfast...
not to mention I got ahold of something that caused such stomach pain I thought I was dying!2-15-10 194.8 - highest ever!
2-20-10 190.4 - new scale
3-20-10 177.8 - 1 month
5-10-10 169.8 - 25 pounds gone!

Kimberly..
I guess my thought is that if you are going to be under your carbs for the day, eat your veggies at lunch. As you said, none of those ingredients provide your body the vitamins, phytochemicals, or nutrients you are needing. It, to me, is like saying, I can have half a milky way, and then just not eat my veggies for the day... not that I would EVER sit down with a calculator to figure that out yesterday afternoon... ahem... you still need what those veggies have.
That powers that be, and folks of great wisdom and knowledge may say differently, I am not sure. But I wouldnt cheat my body out of the veggies to compensate for the junk.
Just my thoughts, which along with 3.50, will get you a cup of coffee (decaf, whole cream, sf toriani vanilla.. omg... killing myself here.)

{{{{{mamakimberly}}}}} Even on induction, Dr Atkins did say the bars are all right in an extreme emergency/bind! You were in a bind!
You're cool, hepcat mama!
Hopefully you didn't have any cravings afterwards? Those are the mankiest!

Re: Can I take the fall for you? Please learn from my stupidity!
Kimberly,
Just learn from this and go from there. You weren't really in a bind, this was just something you had to try. It is good that you were not satisfied by the bar as they are notorious for stalling people. You can not really subtract the sugar alcohols as some suggest-at least all people cannot as most seem to be affected by them. So you prtobably will be over on your carbs for today but that is something that you acn live with. I sometimes use the bars when I am hiking as they are easy to carry and convienient. Good luck on your journey.

Don't be too hard on yourself. What's done is done...just learn and move on. I was eating Pria bars before I found this website. While they tasted somewhat o.k for some reason I knew that I'd be better off without them. The last time I ate one I seriously regretted it. Now I can't eat the evil things even if I wanted to. I get less stomach pain and over-all ickiness from the flu than those bars! Lol! I keep handy dandy snacks available at all times now for when I'm in a hurry. And icy cold water in the fridge! I hope your tummy is feeling better!

Re: Can I take the fall for you? Please learn from my stupidity!
I totally agree they're so bad!!Originally posted by mamakimberlyI immediately threw those LC bars in a ziploc baggie and hid them on top of the fridge (I can't reach up there) and they will never be retrieved unless I need them for something (can't imagine what??).
And can I make a suggestion?
Throw them in the garbage, away away away!!Shelly

Re: Can I take the fall for you? Please learn from my stupidity!
I did low-carb really successfully in 2001-2, and then I stalled. I stalled HARD - 8 months of no movement. I had no idea what was going on. I decided to switch to low-calorie, etc, thinking it was my body being stubborn or something. Looking back (since I kept a very detailed food diary) the thing that sticks out...
Low carb chocolate bars/etc bars. I ate those between classes, and didn't even think about it as being a possible cause of the stall because it was "low-carb"!
Right when I started those, I stalled. I also developed a cavity even though I was brushing the same way and I had never had cavities before. Not sure if it's related, but you know... I'm not taking the same chance with the bars this time.
