  • Kind of an embarrassing question...

Just a warning-I am discussing bodily functions.

Unlike most people, I have had diarrhea during induction. I am trying to trace the cause, whether it's supplements (1000 mgs Vitamin C or Glucosamine), or dairy. With the exception of a daily cup of half-decaf/real coffee, I have conducted a clean induction.

    A sample menu:

    1/2 decaf/caf coffee (6-8 oz) with 1 Tbsp. cream

2-egg omelette with sausage and 1/4 c. mozzarella

1 cup baby lettuce with 6 oz. chicken and olive oil/pesto dressing

6 oz. steak with 1 cup salad and 1 cup of kale sauteed in butter and olive oil

    120+ ozs. of water

I just started to track my progress on Fitday. Yesterday's ratio was 68% fat/28% protein/4% carbs. Maybe I need to reduce fat?

Prior to induction, I was eating a high fat/carb/sugar diet. Aside from the diarrhea after every meal, I feel great.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Higher oil content tends to make things slip right on through! As well, the undigestible quality of fiber tends to send things packing southward in a hurry. Until your body adjusts, keep hydrated (since diarrhea tends to suck the moisture right out of a body).

I'm sure there are some other thoughts about this, too, and that people will add to this.

Thanks for the reply. It probably is the oil combined with raw vegetables, as opposed to cooked vegetables. I am drinking a ton of water. Hopefully it will go away eventually, as it's really-um-unpredictable.

And I also seem to remember something about large amounts of Vitamin C causing diarrhea until your body adjusts to it.

Looks like you've got several potential causes goin' on at once!!

I take a bioflavonoid call Quercetin that comes packed with Vitamin C. Yeah, it looks like my bowels can't make sense of all the stuff in my body.

I am one of those people...I never had a problem with constipation since I've started this woe, but vice versa with category 5 intensity is not uncommon!

add some soluble fiber like psyllium to your diet about 1-2 T with every meal, you can add it to your drink or mix it with wet foods but don't eat it dry cause it can stick in your throat and swell as it absorbs liquids blocking the passage.
that will bulk up your masses of food as it passes through absorbing some of the liquids and slowing down the speed with which it traverses the intestines. Start with the smaller amount and adjust upward as needed. you can get it plain in the health food sections or as Metamucil but you need to count it in your carb counts.
