  • What to take for cravings

    Okay, it's TOM for me and while I remain in ketosis (medium purple), my cravings are annoying. I expected my cravings to stay away during TOM while in ketosis! I almost caved in today for a bowl of rice (my weakness)with my pork chop and I'm still thinking about it while posting this. Any suggestions?

    So you're craving sorta salty carbs?

    -devilled eggs
    - baked spaghetti sauce with parmesan cheese
    - steamed broccoli with melted cheddar
    - Black olives

    MY personal favorite, which I resort to only in dire emergencies (when the rest of the fam damily is eating chip and dip and watching a movie) is keep fried kale.

    Get some fresh kale. Heat up a pot of oil. Cut the stems off the kale. Drop it in the oil. If the oil is really hot, the kale will fry to a golden brown in less than a minute - sometimes only a few seconds. IMMEDIATELY take it out (use a slotted spoon) and dump on a cookie sheet covered with several layers of paper towel. Sprinkle with salt.

    It tastes like popcorn........

      If you crave sugars, take L-Carnitine! Chromium picolinate also helps, both with mood elevation and cravings.

        the supplements will help but they can take up to 3 days and TOM cravings don't wait. You can up your fat intake with a shot of a high fat food or oil if the craving is actually blood sugar induced that will help. if it is mental wants a different approach is needed.

        You have identified your food, rice, now you can either make a low carb version using riced cauliflower from the recipe section of ADBB or you can go with a sub for the feelings and try to use up the hormones you got going wild with TOM time without using food as the cure. Exercise meditation and distraction are 3 ways members of ADBB have combated those cravings. Drowning them is another popular one. (think pavlov's dog sort of) everytime you want the rice drink water. soon you are running to the potty and have forgotten all about eating rice.
        Hang in there and know that just as the rest of the TOM symptoms will pass so too will the cravings.
