    Re: Gherkins?

These should be fine as they are only small cucumbers in vinegar.
But do check the list of ingredients to make sure no sweet-toothed manufacturer has slipped in some sugar or its aliases!

      Re: Gherkins?

Pickles are never exactly 0 carbs.

"0 carbs" refers to the fact that they are less than half a carb; therefore, by law they are allowed to state they are 0 carbs.

So, beware! Don't be like I was and eat 12 pickles! You would have unwittingly eaten about 6 (or so) carbs.

Splenda is a 3-servings a day item. So three pickles!

That sneaky zero carbs per serving is a real problem for those of you who are in the USA. That is one thing that is better about lowcarbing in the UK and some other countries as by law they have to list the numbers for either 100 grams (3.5 ounces) or 100 mls (0.42 cup) of any food. Makes it harder for them to sneak carbs into food unnoticed and easier for us to work out our carb counts.

Darnit, elizellen! I wish we'd do that here!

It's downright deceiving when a person who thinks an egg is actually 0 carbs, only to find it's closer to anywhere from .4-.6! Those 'non-carbs' add up so quickly!
