I got up this morning and checked. Now im not in ketosis anymore.

It looks ok. How many carbs did fitday say that added up to? How many carbs in the sausage?

Don't check first thing in the morning. Wait a bit til after you eat and see if that makes a difference.

I was on a doctor-monitored diet a while ago and they had us bring in a pee sample to do the ketosis test and they alternated between the evening and the morning and they would say that it had to be the first pee of the morning. I'm not sure why.

He probably wanted to see if you were throwing off ketones because of diet or because of something more nefarious. Testing at night and in the morning would show this, as in the morning, you will have fasted for hours, while at night, your ketostick reading will most likely show your most recentmeals for the day. A bit of a test sampling. JMT

They would automatically assume that you cheated if the stick was not positive. And they would tell you to your face. It was a brutal place.

OOf! That is brutal! Well, I consulted the 2002 DANDR, and he doesn't say when to test the sticks. He did that in the older version, but since it's outdated and he didn't make it a point to mention time of day again, I guess it no longer matters what time of day one tests!

He did say variables for testing include exercise beforehand and eating beforehand.

But that diet you were on is brutal, because even Dr A said a person need not even test positive and can still be in ketotsis and can still lose weight!

Yeah, I know, but not according to them. And if you didn't lose a certain amount of weight each month, you were put on probation and if it happened too often, you were kicked out of the program. And it's not like the program was free. It was very expensive. Imagine you're paying good money, losing a good amount of weight and they kick you out 'cause you're not losing what THEY say is the average you should be losing each month (which was 16 lbs).

Also, if you're drinking lots of water, the ketones in your urine won't be as concentrated. Forget the strips, in my humble opinion. If you're sticking to the rules of induction you'll be in ketosis.

                          Re: Ketosis

without going into too much science... i recommend just checking consistantly at the same time every day that you check.

from what i understand, ketosis is like pregnancy... either you are or you arent... not alot of iffy room.

also just like pregnancy, you can go right back after finishing the process (ummm... more or less... lol).

just watch what you eat over the next day and test at the same time... if you dropped out, stick with in and you will go back in in another day or so... or however long its takes your body to flush is sugar stores.

i need to disagree here... that little pinkish purpleish indicator is a huge motiviation tool for me and and is a instant tangible indicator that "i done good" recently... if i dont see a color change i know to kick myself in the @$$ and figure out what i was doing wrong.

Just as long as you know that they're not always accurate! Whatever floats your boat! You do know if you're following the rules of induction though! I do agree, that they can be motivating for some people. Just don't get bent out of shape if you're doing everything right and not seeing anything registering on the the strips.
