Pounds are nice but don't really count for much. Inches are wonderful, but I rarely measure. What does it for me is photos. One month I had only a 2 pound drop, but exercised regularly and the difference in the photos was amazing.
Tip for taking photos: wear the same outfit each time (until you've shrunk out of it), with the same background.

For me, the most noticeable thing was pounds. I have seen where the fat will reposition itself temporarily and/or due to exercising a measurement will even increase. Measurements for larger folk like I was are difficult to get the same spot each time.
I needed some positive reenforcement when I first started, and I personally got that from the scale and the strips (no matter how faulty diagnostic tool they are). In the end, everyone and their body is different. You may lose 20 #'s before the measuring tape shows it or you could move a pound but lose a boat load of inches. That's the beauty of seeing the process of the "new you" emerging. In either case, you will be successful.

i really think its a male/female thing... when i was at my all time high of 265, punds came first... seems like "many" females lose the inches first due to the shrinking of their fat cell from the low carb thing as opposed to initially losing those fat cells..... could be because women have a higher % of body fat to begon with.
(PS - grats on the twins! i lucked into a set myself that just turned 6)
