but im wondering if 1700-2400 calories a day is too much or too little? I'm sticking to the 65/30/5 ratio, according to fitday.

The water really makes the difference. One thing that most people here don't point out is nighttime eating. If you can manage to not eat at least 4 hours before going to sleep you'll lose much quicker (in my experience anyway).
