I know in the book it says calories arent too important while on induction.

but im wondering if 1700-2400 calories a day is too much or too little? I'm sticking to the 65/30/5 ratio, according to fitday.

    Re: Calories

Atkins burns more calories than low-cal diets because it takes more work to convert the proteins and fats into fuel for your body.

      Re: Calories

the answer to that is did it take every bite you are to satisfy your hunger at the time you were eating? If so then that is a pertect cal total if not then you had too many. if you went to bed hungry then it is too low a total too.

Atkins blows our minds about every thing we have ever learned about calories. the difference is ablut 30% in the amount of energy used up eating Atkins vs eating the USDA just for the processes involved in getting the food from mouth to energy unit in the body.

        Atomic,

You have a bit to lose so just to sustain your weight is probably in the 3500+ calories a day category. If you eat 1700-2400 you will probably lose weight regardless. And like others said, atkins has a metabolic advantage where its easier to burn stored fat than convert proteins.

Also keep in mind we all recommend you eat till you're full and satisfied and drink at least 64oz water. The water really makes the difference. One thing that most people here don't point out is nighttime eating. If you can manage to not eat at least 4 hours before going to sleep you'll lose much quicker (in my experience anyway).

So, eat a nice satisfying dinner at 6pm and if you go to bed at 11 you'll wake up thinner. Guaranteed!
