  • Atkins for me?

    Hi all,

I'm Elke , from Belgium, Europe.
Atkins has become a real hype here in Europe , books being sold everywhere and even a small supply of Atkins products in health stores.
So I'm very interested in trying this WOE.
I would like to lose about 20lbs. I'm a size 6-8 , but am stuck with a rather stubborn big and chunky tummy that is not in proportion with the rest of my skinny frame (I am tall , but have a very small built , my wrists are smaller than my mother-in-law's who is only 5 Ft). Will a combination of Atkins and excercise help me to achieve a lean and healthy look (I don't have to be Hollywood skinny)? Calorie reduction has done nothing but make me very hungry.
And how do I get started with this woe? I have the books , but I could really use some hints and tips from people who know how to do this practically. For example, what are easy lunch ideas to take to work?

    Thanks!!!!
    Elke

    Hi Elkie
    Welcome to

As to suggestions of food to pack for lunch . . - anything on the allowed list of induction foods that you like is my first suggestion LOL

But seriously . . . There is a 'Snacks' forum here
    http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...aysprune=&f=25
with loads of ideas for things that can be prepared in advance and kept in your refrigerator ready to be quickly collected and packed to take with you.

What foods from the allowed list are your favourites?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      Hi,

      Thanks for replying!
What troubles me most about packing lunch are dressings. Here in Belgium , we don't have any low carb dressings, just the low fat variety. Maybe there are websites where I can find nice low carb dressings recipes? And I should really check the snack forum, thanks for the tip!
My favorite foods of the list have to be cheese and fish! I can hardly ever stop eating any of them
As for veggies, I really like red and yellow peppers, mushrooms, onions etc I do like my veggies. I'm gonna miss fruits though, those first weeks.

Dont worry about buying 'low-carb' dressings. If you read the labels of many mayonnaises and other salad dressings you should find that many of them are already low in carbs - in fact in UK I have seen some of the special 'low-carb' dressings have more carbs than the normal full-fat ones!!
When you are visiting the recipes forums for ideas have a look at the 'other' forum where recipes for things not fitting into the other recip forums are put.

There are several dressings recipes there I noticed.
