  • If i were granted one wish by God,it would be to loose weight!

hello everyone. i am new here. i am from Pakistan. am a mother of two and am 29 years old. i always had a tendency to gain weight, but managed to loose a pound here and a pound there.. it was after i had my two kids that i started gaining and am somewhere around 180lbs now.i just feel miserable. i want to be around 140lbs.thats a goal of 40lbs. i am on day 10 of induction. didn't weigh myself before i started because i am just tooo scared to see my weight on the scales. i haven't cheated at all...except for one day when i had one french fry. felt very bad afterwards and vowed never to cheat again. i have definitely lost a few inches. and it just feels wonderful.
since the time i have gained all this weight,i feel i am a different person. i am generally soo unhappy.i hate looking at myself in the mirror, have stopped buying new clothes.i dont even make an effort to look good now, because i know with this weight,i just cannot look good. i am generally irritable now and tend to snap at people..and then feel bad later on. it's all because i am so unhappy with myself that i tend to take it out on others. sometimes i even cry myself to sleep at night. i just hate the way i look.
in my part of the world there are not many people on diets.it's a third world country and no one i know is on a diet. therefore,i need lots of encouragement from you guys. i love looking at your before and after pics. it gives me a lot of encouragement. if u can do it,so can i. my e-mail address is fuzzypeach76@hotmail.com. feel free to email me. i need lots of friends who are in the same boat as me. love u all.

    Hi and welcome.

You're not a fish out of water here, because we have members who are overweight but the rest of their family is skinny. So don't worry about not finding support here.

As for you, you need to get a positive outlook and give yourself some well-deserved credit. Use that hate you have for being overweight by turning it into good energy--like energy you need for exercising and sticking to this diet.

Keep a positive outlook while you lose your weight. And remember the struggles you are going through now, so you won't be tempted to regain any of that weight again.

Welcome to ADBB! I kind of understand where you're coming from. I thought that I would be overweight for the rest of my life...didn't see the point in even trying Atkins because why bother? I was doomed to be the biggest person in the room. Let me tell you...your wish is about to be granted!!!! If you follow Atkins faithfully you'll start to be just amazed with yourself. Your self confidence will soar and you'll fall asleep at night anticipating the next day! Right now you need a little self love...remind yourself that it's who you are on the inside...not the outside that makes you who you are...and I see a beautiful person! We're here for you so feel free to vent/share/ask questions. And wannabe made a good suggestion...a journal is a great way to get thoughts out of your head...it's really helped me emotionally...you can share as much as you want or don't want.

Hi, Welcome. I too keep a journal. Not online but one that I write in each night. It has been a lot of help in keeping focus on my weight loss journey. I was a non-believer when I first joined...but after I started losing and meeting others who were dedicated to getting healthy, I quickly realized that for the first time in my life, I had learned the secret to controlling my weight.

Best wishes to you and keep us posted on your success! Remember every one here can relate to your story. We are all here because being overweight and unhealthy has caused issues in our lives to make us want to change. Together we can all achieve our goals and help one another.

Re: If i were granted one wish by God,it would be to loose weight!

I used to have that same wish and God and Atkins made it true.
Losing the weight has been great but losing the negative thoughts I
used to have about myself has been even more precious.

It sounds like you are being very hard on yourself, but I think
                        you deserve praise.

If you embrace Atkins, greater changes than the weight loss will come to you.

You are innocent - you have done nothing wrong. We were all innocent. We didn't know how to nourish our bodies but now we know.

Just be very gentle in the way you talk to yourself as you make this transition. You will see your wish come true, but better than that, you will change what you are wishing for.
Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary. Eckhart Tolle

All u guys are such gems. i only wish i had found this site earlier. and desertthorn,as u say,i seriousy believe i have been pointed this way by a higher power. wannabe, i have joined a 5 days a week aerobics class. yesterday was my first day. as for my progress,i am just keeping my fingers crossed and praying to God to guide me and take me through this journey. i have DEFINITELY lost a bit in these last 11 days. my mom-in-law,who's not too good with compliments, asked me yesterday if i was on a diet. when i asked y she was asking this, she said that she thought i'd lost weight. i could go n kiss her.
bugaboo, thanks for reminding me that it's who u r from the inside that matters.u r absolutely right.soliwit, the day i feel i have become a 'hottie' i'll send u my pic. mcotton,i would love to be your friend and share my progress with u. and tabekat, what u said was probably right. i am being harsh on myself by hating myself.but seriously, that's the way i feel about myself these days.i could kill myself for having gained so much weight.
thanks again,u guys. i am truly indebted to you for all the encouragement u've given me. i am really touched by your response.and Godwilling,i will make it through and succeeeeeed! i promise i will not give up now.
day 12 is almost over.i intend to go extended induction because i feel i can do it and since it's giving results already, might as well continue with it. no other diet has ever given me results in such short a period. i am loving every minute of it.
                          thanks again all of u.

I just read your post. Mehr, if I can start this, so can you! I'm almost through my first week at this and have found that all it required was a change to my mindset. If you get focused, you can accomplish anything. You just need to make it a priority and the center of your life for a little while until you get a routine established and then everything will fall into place easily. I promise! For motivation, I started a scrap book to document my weight loss journey. It's been fun to put together plus I think about the outcome, my goals and progress every time I work on it so it's a constant reminder of my goals. If you don't have time for that, keep an album with pictures of your monthly progress. I felt a lot like you when I started (specially the lack of self-love), but little at a time have started doing (little) things for myself and they have helped me inmensly.
