  • induction without cheese?

    hi,
i never liked cheese in my life though i eat it if i haveto,i like cheese flavour though like cheese flavored cheetos or pringles(hehe)
but since i am going to start induction this month,i was confused that should i eat cheese or not?
i always thought that atkins is high protien diet but now i found out that it is basically high fat diet.
if i dont eat cheese and have lots of olive oil and butter will it be ok?
and since i ate almost boiled food all through my life will i not be accumulating fats ??
    i am too confused
i just want get this thing cleared before i start induction.

You may have up to 4 ounces of cheese daily in induction. :^)

Oh my sweet cheeses..I love cheese!! Sadly, it stalls me so I cannot eat it. But no, you don't have to eat it if you don't want to..it's probably better that way....my farewell to my mozz, way not an easy one

Welcome to the board, Sadie! No, cheese is certainly not a requirement on Atkins, but keep in mind that it is permitted by up to 4 ounces a day. Maybe it'll be an acquired taste for you later on? I couldn't live without it. lol

May I also add one more thing? While I was able to lose readily eating the allotment of cheese, I did notice my weight dropped faster if I were out of town for the week and ate less of it. (When I'm out of town or eating out, I always end up eating less cheese!)

I'm one of those weirdos who can't lose if I eat much meat. I rely on eggs and cheese for protein. But you don't HAVE to eat cheese if you don't want to. Heck, you can eliminate all dairy if you like!

Yup. Just strive for 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs in whatever way works for you using the acceptable food lists for induction.

                Re: induction without cheese?

If you truly don't like a particular food then it makes no sense at all to try to force yourself to eat it.

But I think it would be more fun to be open minded about it and try a wide variety of cheeses. Can you be sure you dislike them all? There are so many!

If you fall deeply into ketosis and stay there, you will find that your palate, your taste buds and your preferences will change. You may find cheese to be more to your liking down the road.

Personally, I adore cheese and consider it an important staple in my Atkins arsenal.

I also believe that cheese is one of those foods that signal the brain, along with butter and meat fat, that the body isn't starving and that it is safe to release the fat stores.

teab:i live in pakistan we certainly dont have ALL the types of cheese available but mozzerala, cheddar, goat cheese are available and no blue cheese etc..and we dont have a cheese eating culuter we stick to just milk ,butter and yougart(weird, huh?)
so i could never develope a taste for it though i like it on pizza ..i was not sure if i will like it as a snack .
my other question was i have been eating low fat food since i was a kid,and mostly soups etc..if i start eating fats is it possible that i gain instead of losing weight?

No, you will not gain increasing fat on Atkins. Atkins is a high fat diet. If you haven't already, get yourself the book as it explains the whys and hows the diet works. You cannot eat low fat and do Atkins.
