Re: Buffalo Wings??
If they aren't breaded you should be fine. Sometimes (rarely) there is sugar in the hot sauce...if the place you're ordering from are nice people they should be able to tell you what exactly what those wings are cooked with. I would ask. Here's to hoping you get some yummy wings!

Re: Buffalo Wings??
Yep. I always just ask if they bread their wings. LOTs of folks don't!! But, like Bugaboo said, the sauce is another place carbs can hide out.
Good luck!!

Re: Buffalo Wings??
You'll get really good at asking lots of questions at restaurants. The rule is this: if the ingredients are not on the acceptable food lists for induction, then you can't eat 'em! Hope the wings were acceptable and good!

Why the conspiracy with sugar hidden in our foods? As a known narcotic it is highly addictive. I believe that's the main reason why its added to our pre-packaged foods and sauces.

Re: Buffalo Wings??
Sugar is a flavor enhancer. So it can hide the poor quality of many foods. For example, if you want frozen veggies to taste "fresher", you add a bit of sugar to the cooking water. Same thing for tomatoes, if the tomatoes are too acidic or lack a bit of flavor, add sugar. Next time you're in the store, read the ingredients to a package of cold cuts---9 times out of 10, you'll find they've tossed some sugar (dextrose, corn syrup solids, etc.) into the cold cuts.Originally posted by FunkyFabDivaWhy the conspiracy with sugar hidden in our foods? You see sugar added to many Asian sauces as a flavor enhancer but also as a flavor tamer. Soy sauce based sauces and dips have a good amount of sugar added because the soy sauce is too harsh. The sugar helps decrease that harshness. And of course, sugar is added to Asian sauces and foods because many dishes have a sweet-sour-bitter-spicy flavor (which is why it tastes good). Adding sugar helps balance the sour-bitter-spicy flavor.~Megs~

Re: Buffalo Wings??
If you buy a bottle of Frank's Original Red Hot sauce, the recipe is on the side of the bottle. Or you can go here
http://www.franksredhot.com/recipe/r...88&cname=Wings
You can really cook the wings anyway you like, fry, bake or even grill and then just follow the sauce recipe---its easy peasy!

Re: Buffalo Wings??
Always ask about certain menu items - and if asking the manager directly isn't possible, make sure to ask the server to ask someone in the kitchen who knows for sure. It's much easier to get a quick, ultra-convenient (for them), "No, I don't think so" from a server if you ask them whether an entrée or sauce has sugar. Not good enough. So, dial direct for accuracy!
A tip about restaurant Caesar dressings. Making it from scratch at home, recipes for this dressing almost never contain sugar as an ingredient to begin with - as unlike Honey Mustard, Caesar is a savory dressing rather than sweet. It's just not meant to be part of the recipe. However, half the restaurants I frequent throw sugar into the Caesar dressings anyway - which is completely unnecessary and shifts the taste of the recipe, in my opinion. For those of us eliminating sugar as much as possible, the above is worth noting. Many times, I bring my own extra-virgin olive oil in lieu of their Caesar dressings.Sheila, Founder of SugarFreeSheila.com
