  • Hi All! Newbie Here, just learning the ropes!

Hey All! I just started induction this week and still have so much to learn! I've noticed already that I'm not in a constant state of hunger, there are no more growls and groans in my tummy and I'm not bloated for once! That in itself is satisfying, but I'm looking forward to the weight loss too! In three days, I've lost three pounds when nothing else would make them budge!

Some friends have already give me a "talking to" about the dangers of Atkins and how I should NOT do this! I wonder how many lectures they've gotten on all the fast food and processed junk they stuff in their faces!!

Anyway, it's good to be on board. I'm getting lots of helpful info on this site, thanks to all those who work so hard to keep it going. Your success stories are inspiring!! Keep up the good work, everyone!

Hi there, sisterchick! Speaking of success stories, look at you already! You are doing fabulously!

Yeah, I love it when people give me 'the lecture' while they're piledriving bags of chips into their gullets. It makes me want to say, "I might be fat but you've lost your ball in the tall weeds and I can lose the weight".

I usually just tell people I'm eating lower-glycemic foods and have cut out sugars as much as possible. As it happens, the polysyllabic terms confuse them, and they go back to snacking or scratching their bits, or digging in their bellybuttons.

Welcome aboard! I now eat more vegies in a day than I used to eat in a week. And truth be told less fat than before too. Congrats on the three pounds.

My neighbors however all know what i'm doing and all the aldies on my street have tried there on thing. 2 of them are on WW and are not doing to good not to mention those people are spending hard earned money!!! Congrats on your loss!! I too have always just told people that I am eating healthier if they ask. I don't tell them I am dieting anymore, I hate that word. I figure in time people will see and then, I will still say "just eating healthier". Keep up the good work!

Welcome. Glad you are feeling better already and starting into a healthier lifestyle. You will continue to feel better and drop inches as you do Atkins. We've all had the 'lecture on how bad Atkins is for us'. I'm now thinner than most of the ones who gave it to me when I was first starting. And....a few of them are now inquiring what I did and how I did it. Go figure.

Best wishes and keep us posted on your success. Everyone here is great for inspiration and advice-- if you have questions, just ask!!!

Trust me, they'll all be asking to borrow your Atkins book in a few months when they see how well it works!! You go girl!

Dangers, huh? Like its dangerous to eat whole foods and eliminate white flour and starch! I've been in the "danger zone" for nearly 4 years! And I've suffered through it while losing 40 pounds, maintaining easily and running 30 miles a week!

                      You're doing awesome!

Ok, help!! What in the world happened? I swear I've not cheated at all, and today is one complete week since I began. I see I've gained back two of the three pounds and know that I have stuck to the plan!! What could I be doing wrong? I'm so discouraged...anyone have any ideas?

Take a look at the thread called 'weight loss is not linear' http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....read.php?t=5090
and you will see this is perfectly normal.

Just stay with the plan and follow the rules of induction and I am sure you will soon be a big loser
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Don't worry about it, you may need to cut back a little on the carbs. 20 may be a few to many in this early stage for you!

Thanks for the support. That post called "weight loss is not linear" really helped to cheer me up. I'm glad that I'm typically stubborn and pig-headed, so I'm not one to quit things. All your pics are sooooooooooo inspiring!!!!
