  • Am I going through withdrawls?

    I'm literally shaking today.
    My body is tightening up.
I crave something sweet, so much so that I can taste sweetness in my mouth.
After reading the sticky for Cephalic response, I won't run to the store for Splenda.
    What can I do?
    Thank you.

    I figured it out.

I ate more protein and now I have no sweet cravings, without the hunger.

I am glad you figured it out a hard boiled egg will do it for me.

You are all on the right track!
An egg has the perfect balance of fat/protein/carbs and is an excellent choice for a snack.
Combining a fat with a protein is also recommended because it will fill you up faster and sustain you longer. Something like deli meat rolled up with cheese or mayo inside is good. It'll shut up the cravings monster.

Good job for not feeding the sweet craving. Especially in the beginning we are really learning how to eat all over again, and re-training our bodies to learn new habits.

When I craved something sweet, I would eat a protein/fat combo. I wanted to teach my body that if it was hungry, it would get fed....but that it would not necessarily get that specific item that it was craving.

It took me a long long time and lots of mental struggle to allow myself a sweet legal treat because that's where my problem was pre-Atkins. I do have the occasional treat now that I make for myself, but I don't feel as urgent about it like I used to..and that makes me feel great!
