  • Not sure if I should post this here: Zoloft?

Okay can I take Zloft (antidepresant) while on the diet? I came off it about 1 1/2 months it was for Post Partum Depression. Unfortunately I am having some bouts again.... and I need to start it again. Can I continue my WOE?
    Thanks!

When it comes to medications like that, if you need to take them, then go right ahead and take them. You have to take care of your body, mind and soul in order to be the healthiest you can be, right?
Just keep eating the way you need to be eating, take your meds as prescribed by your doctor, keep up the exercise and relax.
I have no idea what effect Zoloft will have on weight loss, but I think that needs to come secondary if you are having problems with depression.
    Take care of yourself!

It'll be easier to stick to the WOE if you stay on your meds...but only you can decide if you need 'em (with your doctor's input of course)

Unfortunately all these types of meds have side effects...sometimes affecting hunger etc so you'll have to pay attention to these things.

There is a depression forum that you could check out and ask the question in. Not sure if you've done this yet.

I take Effexor (also an anti-depressant) and it hasn't affected me that I can tell. Like the others have said, you have to take care of you first, MEDS-wise (for something like depression anyway), and all will fall into place with time and work.

          Good luck!

              Thanks Punkin & Nikki!
I hope it does not affect my weight loss but I feel I need to take it....my OBGYN told me not to stop taking it even if I felt better....and I did not listen so now my baby is 4 months and I have Post partum again.

Re: Not sure if I should post this here: Zoloft?

take your meds. I ask you about previous weight gain in the deprtression forum but you already answered that here.

They now know that each person depending on their liver protein makeup (there are 42 in the genetic testing now done dealing with antidepressants and their effectiveness and side effects) will react to dosing and meds differently from anybody else. Since you didn't gain before you shouldn't gain now. Low carb is the weight loss method of choice for those e4xperiencing weight gain on those meds because of the liver issues. You might need your dose adjusted because of the liver usage by Atkins too.

That said the depression is a very critical issue that needs addressing now. So what if it takes you 2 yrs to lose the next weight goal amount instead of one yr as long as you are enjoying life with that wonderful gift from God you have been bkessed with. You should be doing your weight loss to be getting heithier so you can grow old watching your child's child grow up and actively share in it.

Slow weight loss is still getting healthier.

                Happy low carbing.
