  • Caffiene=Stalling?

Does caffiene actually cause stalls in some people (like aspartame), or are we advised to stay away from it because it can cause cravings, which lead to binges, etc?

Caffeine can affect blood sugar, so I think for some it can lead to cravings and weight gain. I notice that I get a mid-afternoon energy dip when I consume coffee, so I tend to stay away from it. The caffeine in Green tea doesn't seem to affect people in the same manner.

Actually it can cause stalling. It does cause your pancreas to release some insulin thus, you get the shakes when you have too much of it. If you need caffeine, try sticking with green tea instead of coffee because it should have enough to jump start you in the morning but also has way more benefits from the antioxidants than coffee does. Atkins talks about the ravages of caffeine on www.atkins.com and another good reference is reading any ne of Dr. Perricone's books. He also advocates low carb (without labeling himself that for fear of being cast in a bad light) for anti-aging reasons and goes into great detail as to how the effects of caffeine can really do damage to the skin.
