  • Great new kitchen gadget!!

Since I started Atkins, I've found the best breakfast for me is two hardboiled eggs that I've done the night before. I'm not much of a morning person, so scrambling something up isn't really my thing....I need simple and easy.

So I'm at one of those kitchen kiosks that spring up in the mall before Christmas and I found a $6 microwave egg poacher and since I did try to poach eggs the other day (they looked like a prop from a horror movie when I was done) I thought I'd give this a go.

Wow...I love it! I've got the timing figured out, and I can see how this is going to be really nice to have a hot breakfast for the winter.
(please don't tell me there's a cheaper easier way of doing this, ok? lol)

I like how Atkins can be as complicated (i.e.-cooking up a full breakfast) or as simple (throw the eggs in the microwave thing and they're done by the time the splenda hits the decaf) as a person wants it to be.

Cool! I'm sure you'll love it. I have a Cuisinart egg cooker and it's probably the appliance I use the most. It hard cooks (med or soft too if you want) 7 eggs with just a splash of water and it turns itself off, which I umm...need. It also poaches eggs, three at a time. It looks kinda cool to boot in a stainless steel Mork and Mindy kinda way!

    Yay for egg cookers!

Oh so true! I'm not a gourmet cook by any means, and yet I never fail to have a meal that's tasty!!

I use my microwave egg poacher EVERY morning. It takes all of 1 minute 20 seconds to cook in my microwave, so my breakfast of sauteed spinach and poached eggs is always ready in under 5 minutes.

It gives me absolutely no excuse that I "don't have time to eat in the mornings".

          Good to know.

What do you eat your poached eggs with? I'm so used to eating them with toast, what's an alternative?

I like to eat a poached egg with spaghetti squash. I have also had fried green pepper, tomatoe, mushrooms in butter, or spinach. It's all yummy! Get creative and it makes this WOE a WOL.

Congrats ^^^ on reaching 199 lbs..

I never had spaghetti squash, sounds interesting and the concoction with the butter and other ingredients sounds really good.

I will just eat the eggs on their own, or sometimes I will cook up some pork sausage and have it in the fridge and nuke it a bit to eat with the eggs.

To those of you who have used these things before, can I just chop the cooked sausage up and throw it in with the raw eggs before I nuke it and make little sausage/egg thingies? It seems to me that shouldn't be a problem, right?

Sounds yummy Moochiecat - microwaves certainly make producing quick meals easy!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
