Re: please look at my fitday

          a) you're not eating nearly enough. Your body will go into starvation mode and will not lose weight. Are you eating 3 meals a day + some snacks? Use an online tool to determine about how many calories you should be eating per day ( http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ ). If you eat just a little under that, it's fine, but under 1000 calories a day isn't good.

          b) where's your veggies? You should be eating 15-20 carbs per day of which most of that are coming from veggies. Lettuce is not sufficient. Get some broccoli, cauliflower, or many of the other yummy veggies on the acceptable food list

          c) you need to eat more fat, butter or olive oil, mayonaise, etc. You should be aiming for 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs

Make some adjustments in what you're eating. Make sure you re-read the book about Induction and how and why it works. It really does, if you do it right.

          Good luck

            Couple things about fitday.

You have to be very specific about the amounts you have entered. According to your diary, you have eaten 1 ounce of chicken wing meat, which is probably the amount of meat on 1 chicken wing. Is that really all the chicken you ate???

It also says you ate 1 cup of cheese. That's probably more than the 3-4 ounces you are allowed on Atkins daily.

Another thing is if you are putting any kind of dressing on your salad, that has to be entered into fitday too.

            Editing to add,

I calculated your ratios to be 70/26/2, which isn't horrible, but I think it's off a bit because I'm not sure if you really are eating 1 cup of cheese or only 1 ounce of chicken wing meat.

Re: please look at my fitday

i've edited to 2oz of cheddar cheese, 5 whole cooked chicken wings. my bleu cheese dressing is there also. i am eating at least three meals a day. i'll admit though that around day 7 or so i started wanting less to eat. i'm simply not as hungry. i know i shouldn't have done it but i got on the scale today. i was down 3lbs which may have been more i'm figuring since i'm not eating enough calories. any ideas on how to get more calories in would be welcome. I am eating until i'm satisfied. it's odd in the beginning i was consumed by thoughts about food. instead of eating to live i was living to eat. now the mind part seems to be working (eating to live) but i'm not eating enough. often i'm reminding myself to eat and that is truly an oddity for me as i could single handedly put Ryans out of business normally.

Re: please look at my fitday

I was raised where everything centered around food. We celebrate, we eat, we cry, we eat, etc... I became a big eater in my teens, although I managed to stay slim well into my 20's. I love to cook and it became my trademark the youngest old school cook in the family. My family looked to me for things like homemade macaroni and cheese, best fried chicken this side of Dixie, creamy potato salad, you get the point. Now a husband and 1 child later it's haunting me! esp. on my thighs and boobs. while i'm still new to low carb lifestyle, i'm slowing learning to change. i'm thankful thus far for the advancements i've been helped to make. it's not just about the weight for me while that is a huge factor, i want to learn not to be a glutton, and to be healthy. i have a daughter to set an example for.
o.k. i'm getting sappy so i'll stop here. thanks for all your support everyone!

Re: please look at my fitday

That appetite suppression is totally normal on Atkins. Just make sure you go no more than 6 waking hours without eating something. If you don't feel like eating a whole meal, eat a small snack. You typically won't run into trouble by eating too few calories if you listen to your body. Some days I have more of an appetite than other days. For example, yesterday I almost couldn't stop eating, but today I'm hardly hungry at all.

Alot of us have been programmed to associate food with our emotions or emotional events (like holiday celebrations/birthday parties/religious celebrations etc.) So you're not alone here. With the holiday season fast approaching, you and others will need to "re-learn" the purpose of food during times like that.

Instead of celebration focus on food, focus on the people celebrating with you. We never want to admit that we're getting older by the minute and that one day one of our loved ones will no longer be there. So use those moments at family gatherings to spend time with those people rather than spending time filling our stomachs with multiple servings of chocolate-pecan torte.

You can still cook those carby foods for your family. I do. I bake pies, bread and tarts every year for our family gatherings. But nowadays, I find it more "filling" to see everyone enjoying my dishes, rather than stuffing those things down my throat. I just make sure I have something that I can eat and as you move through the phases of Atkins, you'll find your food choices will expand ten-fold.
