  • My 100th time on Atkins...my first time completing Induction!!

Okay, I'm pretty proud of myself, but a little disappointed, too.

    Firstly, after my 14 days I went from 330 to 319. That's 11 pounds.

Secondly, this wasn't a completely cheat-free induction (I had a slice of pumpkin pie), but I continued through it instead of continuing to cheat with the intention of starting induction again.

Thirdly, this is encouraging, so I'm going into extended induction and try to be cheat-free.

If I make it or don't, I'll let you all know the outcome.

Congrats on your success so far Steve. To be honest I think you have overcome a major hurdle. You say your self that in the past when you have cheated you have just binged out afterwards.

But this time to have cheated and KNOW that you were wrong and to step back up on the saddle proves that you have accomplished something.

Well done and keep up the good work. It won't be long until you are in the 200's

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Well done Steve - a nearly cheat-free induction is a big triumph - especially as you didnt let that slice of pie persuade you to blow it all after!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Good for you! You've discovered the key to losing weight and keeping it off - getting back on track right after you've gone off. That's the key I've been ignoring myself and thus sabotaging myself. Congrats on the 11 pounds! It may seem like a tip of the iceberg right now (depending on your goal) but just imagine that as a sack of flour! Good WORK!!!! Keep it up .

Richt and Elizellen, thank you all for the comments.

I think the difference this time around is that I'm on this board. And I'm thinking about what you guys would say if I just gave up. And I keep looking at all your successess and get motivated.

I'm sticking to my this time.

Hey, Steve! You are doing GREAT, my man! You know, I started out at 325 pounds, and you've been doing really well--even for the pumpkin pie thing! I think you'll really like extended induction. It's how I dropped 100 pounds pretty fast. If, however, you grow weary of the induction menu, check out the OWL rungs or modified OWL. Boredom should never be an issue on this woe!

Congratulations again on your awesome success so far! I have no doubt that with your attitude, by New Year's, you'll have a whole lot of loss to celebrate!

Congratulations Steve. You have so much to be proud of.

I'm a big fan of dessert and make sure I have plenty of Atkins friendly choices available.

Did you know pumpkin is on the approved foods list? Next time make yourself a yummy pumpkin flan and have that instead.

Congrats on your loss and on your new mindset. Yep this board is a fantastic incentive: We're all simply terrified of cheating 'cos we get hauled over hot coals if we do! (ha ha...and I'm a compulsive liar!!). Seriously though, ADBB is full of wonderful and supportive people who encourage and never criticise in anything but constructive ways. Truly an enormous boost for the old willpower. Stick around!

You've started on that wonderful road which brings goal ever closer!

                  Happy losing

I'm going to start setting some mini-goals for myself, to reinforce that I am accomplishing things.

A lot of good advice here, thanks for that.

I've also started lifting weights 3x's each week during induction. This week I'm going to add 30 minutes of cardio for the other 3 days, then one day of rest.

I hope to be checking back in 12 days with some good news.
