  • Doesn't exercise slow down weight loss in the beginning?

    *eek don't hit me!!!*

The reason I ask this is because I did Medifast in the past, and it said that exercise requires our muscles to retain water, thus affecting the weight loss rate.

I want to lose more water weight in the beginning (stress in the beginning) because it'd be more motivating.

I see many of you here have great success with induction. Did you exercise? Rigorously?

Well, Lil Miz - is your goal here weight loss or fat loss? Water weight is transient. It will fluctuate with your cycle, the time of day, what you eat, what you drink, etc etc etc. It's meaningless in the picture of FAT loss- which should really be your goal.

Exercise can and will cause you to retain some water for the first couple of weeks. It's your body's way of protecting itself from the perceived new crisis it's being put through. Your body will adapt and let the water go in a relatively short period of time. In the meantime, you'll be accelerating your calorie burn (muscle burns more calories at a resting rate), toning up and looking beautiful, and experiencing all the health benefits that come with it.

You've only got 15lbs to go till goal. Exercise is more important for you now than ever. Now is when those new, pretty muscles will start showing through.

No excuses. Get 'yer hiney in gear!

FAT LOSS, not WEIGHT Loss. No one can look at you and see that you've lost a couple of pounds, but if your waist is an inch smaller, I promise you they'll notice that.

YES YES YES. From day one on Atkins (January 19, 2002) to this day I have worked out rigorously. Not only does it help you lose weight, but it guarantees you will keep it off.

        ITS NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Exercise is also important to keep your mind working in a positive manner. When you fail to exercise, you are more apt to let your WOE suffer as well.

I lost about 30 pounds in 30 days on Atkins because I exercised rigorously. You get out what you put in. You can do it!

                  exercise is a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i couldnt exercise my first 15 days on induction,i lost water and weight i shed 8 lbs ..but my body is all saggy now..i am going to start atleast walking from today.
u have to to workout if not much start with a 20 minutes brisk walk dont get emotional ,and exercise beyond your endurance...u can injure yourself and put your weight loss at halt, physically and emotionally u should feel just right when u are starting atkins or any diet, take it easy but DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I exercised from the beginning and it has helped to shape my body to what it is now a lean mean running machine
