Re: So how are you guys doing?

Hi Cleochatra =) I'm sick of eggs, cheese, meat (all of them), so much water, everything about the induction list I'm sick of. Not to sound

I know people who've lost a lot of weight on Atkins, okay so that's why I'm giving it a swing.

My physical feelings of not consuming candy is killing me softly.

I need something sweet so I overindulge in Splenda treats like my fav lately: Whipped Cream no carbs in Can. Can't get enough of this!

That's enough for now. Thank you for listening.

      Hi Cleo,

I don't know if you know what you have started with this thread! Prepare for an onslaught on moaning!

I have just found out that I have an intolerance to dairy products so I'm having to cut out cheese and eggs. Both of which I love and have been staples in the past.

I'm now feeling somewhat deprived for the first time, although I am enjoying all the meat and fish I'm eating.

Breakfast is somewhat lacking in the excitement department now I have kissed good bye to my eggie friends.

Apart from this, I'm feeling good and have lost 5 pounds on induction - all in the first week.

Your contribution to this board is great! We all love your messages and pearls of wisdom.

Re: So how are you guys doing?

Well I finished induction on yesterday! yea! I am somewhat sick of eggs. I'll never tire of cheese and getting slimmer. I can look at myself already and see a difference. My appetite has diminished and if you've read earlier posts from me you'll see that's a BIG deal. I'm not sure at this point whether to go to extended induction or not got to conuslt the book. But otherwise i'm doing great!!!!!! I'm going to start a new thread with my induction results

Re: So how are you guys doing?

          Good morning, guys!

Funky-- Hey, girl! 5 pounds down! You go! I know that this is a definite deviation from what you're used to eating. This is also what makes the first 2 weeks so retsrictive! Dr A takes away a lot of the things we used to eat and replaces it with things we don't necessarily WANT to eat. This is to get those bad carbies out of our system!

So let's focus on what you LIKE to eat that you CAN have. Do you like butter? Beef with butter? Salad? Salami rolled up with cheese and lettice? Red onions? Jalapenos? You know, I make pizza toppings by popping 16 slices of pepperoni in the microwave topped with an ounce of cheese and green olive slices. It is awesome! Let's look at what you like that you CAN have. Give me some ingredients and we'll gab.

Wow, Felix! 5 pounds!!! And 6 weeks smoke-free! WOOT! That is incredible! I am so sorry to hear about your egg and lactose intolerances! I know I'd feel exactly the way you do if I had to suffer through that. I do have to severely limit my cheeses, as I'm usually working through candida issues, and I've had to wholly nix mushrooms and macadamia nuts (sob, I loved mushrooms and macadamia nuts!). It's really hard when we follow this woe sometimes because we find there are things our bodies really signal that we can't have...and sometimes those are the foods we most want to eat. You are doing so wonderfully! I am REALLY proud of you.

ZOE! Congratulations on making it through your first 2 weeks! You lost 9 pounds?! Excellent!!! I just read your results thread and I am so impressed with your inches lost! I would say that since you only have 32 pounds to go, I'd seriously start climbing the OWL ladder rungs slowly. This will give you plenty of time to re-aquaint yourself with good carbs without going all nutso because of carb cravings. Some foods I found out were major triggers this way-- broccoli (of all things), macadamias and mushrooms! And carrots? Honey, let's not even talk about me eating carrots. *lol* The OWL rungs are whete you find out what foods do and don't affect you adversely. You will still lose a lot of weight in OWL and feel GREAT and get used to what you can and cannot have by trial and error! Again, way to go on a successful first two weeks!

Re: So how are you guys doing?

I did not know we can have Salami and Pepperoni?? Okay, I want some what is the brand name.

I looove hot foods and candy/sweet stuff (of course I can't have that ) I also love finger foods (I can survive on this stuff alone)

I bought a lot of chicken, eggs and cheese.

Help me out with some food ideas, pretty please =)

Re: So how are you guys doing?

Aside, from checking out some of the threads regarding induction-friendly snacks, some thing I like to eat are:

cotto salami with cheese, lettuce and a dab of mustard, rolled up
pepperoni with pepperjack melted on top
              green olives

Granted, meats such as salamai and pepperoni are processed, so be aware of things such a nitrates, nitrites, sulfites and hidden fillers and sugars. Still, when eaten in moderation, you'll be just fine. Be sure to log the totals into fitday and remember that a serving might say "0 carbs", but always count it as .5... just to be safe.

Re: So how are you guys doing?

i tried the pepperoni slices. i melted cheese on top for a pizza like thingy.
also i love spicy so i took a few slices of pepperoni added a small dot of cream cheese and topped with jalapeno pepper....um.um. goood.
also found that i love sauteed garlic shrimp tossed with a few avocado chunks and cream cheese. squeeze a little lime over the top and add few drops of hot sauce...whew my mouth is watering just thinking about it. *note* not too much avo. and cream cheese.
