  • I Don't Have a Choice--I have to do it this time!!!

Okay--This is my third time trying Atkins and unlike the past I am absolutely determined to do it successfully and lose the weight. I weighed myself this morning and I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I haven't exercised in over three months and to be quite honest--I feel disgusting. I have decided to completely commit to this lifestyle. In the past when I have tried Atkins I have made adjustments and allowed myself to go out for cocktails with friends as long as they were made with diet soda. But not this time. It's no carbs, no sugar, no alcohol. I woke up hungry and did not prepare to start Atkins today so I went to my fridge and grabbed some jack cheese and eggs. I boiled the eggs and went a little over bored with the cheese cause I was so hungry. I ate prob about six ounces. Anyway, here is a sample of my menu for the day--tell me what you guys think

Breakfast/Lunch (woke up kinda late today):
2 hard boiled eggs w/ 2 tbls mayo
    6 oz jack cheese

    Snack:
    1 cup of cherry tomatoes

    Dinner:
    steak
2 cups of spinach sauteed in garlic and butter
    Age: 22
    Height: 5'3
    Start Weight: 182
    Current Weight: 182
    Goal Weight: 115

Restarted Induction for the very, very last time on: 11/29/2005

OUCH... I didnt see the tomatoes... that is a bit high for induction... but you will be prepared for tommorrow with the green leafys and the salad veggies, right?

A good tool is www.fitday.com, to plug in what you plan to eat, and see the fat/protien/carb ratio breakdown.

Just know that you can do this. I honestly restarted probably 40 times before this time. If I can do it so can you. You're going to lose weight, you're going to exercise, and you're going to have continued success.

Hi, kelly! Welcome home! I agree with woman-praised. I think the cup of tomatoes is a lot of tomatoes, especially on induction. Tomatoes are great, but they can really cause your blood sugat to spike unnecessarily, and when you're trying to keep from cravings, that can be very problematic! I try sticking to two cherry tomatoes, tops, at a meal.

Go ahead and make up some food ahead of time (quiches are an excellent thing to make for induction and you can freeze squares and heat up only what you need). This will keep you from overdoing the cheese (only 3-4 ounces allowed on induction due to blood sugar spiking again).

Preparation is everything on this way of eating!

Since you're restarting, don't overlook our Second Time Around Forum! It is an awesome group of people who lend extra support to those of us who have fallen off the Atkins wagon a time or twelve!

You are going to totally make it this time to goal! Oh...and I want to know what you're going to do for exercise this week.

Hi Kelly, I've been starting over again and again myself for the past I think 2 weeks, today I re-started too. You sound like you're doing good besides all the tomatoes, everybody know what they're talking about so I agree.

Re: I Don't Have a Choice--I have to do it this time!!!

              Welcome back to Atkins !
You can do it, for sure ! You do have the right mentallity to go with it so that one is in the pocket !
I agree with Cleo that you should lay low on the tomatoes, also I would have added some protein for lunch.
Then spinach is considered also a 1-cup veggie, so instead of just 1 you ended up having 3 cups of 1-cup veggies.
Look at this here list for the right veggies to eat on induction http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6781
Also you might like this here little printable list, so you can stick it in your wallet and always have it ready at hand when you are shopping

Re: I Don't Have a Choice--I have to do it this time!!!

Your menu sounds good (perhaps fewer toms as suggested) and next time you have them make sure you eat some fat with them - I usually have cheese or mayo with a snack of veggies to help minimise the insulin spike.
Also try to spread your veggies across all your meals and snacks for the same reason.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
