  • i've decided...

to do extended induction for a few more weeks. a couple of my friends decided to give Atkins a try one of whom lost 60 pounds on it two years ago. She's regained about 20 pounds but believes in the plan. anyway they started induction this week and i'm going to do extended to support them. i'd like to try for another 9 pounds anyway who knows i might just lose them. i might not but one thing's for sure i will be shrinking. oooh i can just see a svelte 140!

I'm glad you've made a decision. But just remember.....

At the end of the 14 Day Induction, Dr. Atkins said for us to check what our "degree of metabolic resistance to weight loss" is. That is based upon our weight loss during the first 14 days of Induction. So remember the number of pounds you lost these last 2 weeks and check it with the chart in Chapter 13 of DANDR 2002.

Sometimes people get confused and they think that the degree of metabolic resistance is based on the weight you lose during the time you've spent on Induction. For example, if they spent 4 weeks on Induction and lost a total of 10 pounds, they mistakenly base their degree of metabolic resistance on those 10 pounds. Only the first 14 days of weight loss count. That's why we're very strict here about the little "cheats" and "non-accidental side trips" during the first 14 days.
