Re: sugar snap peas on induction?
These are not induction allowed but can be introduced later on the Starchy vegetables rung of OWL
According to this site
http://www.carb-counter.org/nutrition/11301 they contain about 4 net carbs per 100 grams (3.5 ounces)Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: sugar snap peas on induction?
From the USDA database
Peas, edible-podded, cooked, boiled, drained, without saltFitday lists the same total carbs and gives the fibre count as 4.48g160 grams : 1 cup : 11.280 grams
So 11.28 - 4.48 = 6.8 net carbs for a cup. So a half cup would have about 3.4 net grams - so it sounds like your kind of peas are the same.
But I am fairly sure it is only green beans that are OK for induction and that peas (including the ones you eat the pods of) are on the 'other veggies' rung.
Remember it is also the 'type' of carbs that matter on Atkins - not just the quantity.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: sugar snap peas on induction?
I think the confusion comes from the fact that snow peas are on the 1 c a day induction list, and look quite a bit like sugar snap pea pods. I could be mistaken, but I believe they're different vegetables.

Re: sugar snap peas on induction?
well actually Dr Atkins center back when he was alive said sugar snap peas and other green peas with edible pods could be eatten on induction as they have less carbs then snow peas but green peas were on the starchy veggie rung.by the book atkinseer

Re: sugar snap peas on induction?
I've been on a stir fry kick lately (which simply must be eaten with chopsticks - so fun!), and I always like getting the little stir fry bags at the supermarket that include snowpeas.

Also, here are Sugar Snap Peas:

They really do look alike! The latter, however, is a cross between snow peas (which are typically a lighter green) & regular peas. Unlike regular peas, you eat the pod as well!Sheila, Founder of SugarFreeSheila.com

if they are round peas without pods they are the starchy things that you have on the starchy veggie rung of OWL not induction.by the book atkinseer

Re: sugar snap peas on induction?
I think what makes them different is that the actual pea is insignificant in snow peas and sugar snap peas compared to traditional green peas. Could you imagine shelling them and only getting the peas out to cook? There'd be nothing there. The pod is the bulk....and the carbohydrate count of the pod isn't that much.
Does that make sense as to why the difference??~Joy

Re: sugar snap peas on induction?
if the pod is edible then they are the right kind and not the starchy green peas english peas
4 ounces of sugar snap would have about 5 net carbs
4 ounces of green peas would have about 12 net carbsby the book atkinseer
