  • First Week

Hey everyone!! Today is officially one week since i started induction, and say the truth things didnt go very well. I think i only stayed on it for 3 days and the rest of the time i cheated, especially this weekend. I was so sure that i gained weight because i felt awful and bloated. But then today i went to the gym and weighed myself, and i was 172!!! I started at 177, which means that i lost 5 lbs. This was so uplifting that now im not going to cheat and am going to do the whole two weeks again perfectly starting tomorrow. Although i do wonder if i would have lost more weight if i hadnt cheated so much

    Hi Mira
    Congratulations on your first loss!

You have experienced a little of the magic of Atkins - even if you dont do everything right it can reward you unexpectedly!! As you have surmised, you might have had a much greater first week loss if you had not slipped, but - hey 5 pounds is worth taking!!

Hopefully this will spur you on to greater efforts in your Atkins journey.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      Good morning, mira

I'm glad that the scale rewarded you in spite of you choosing not to stay on plan for your induction. Good for you! I will say that you can just about guarantee yourself that you'd have done better if you'd have stuck to it.

This isn't always going to be easy and you're not always going to be rewarded like you were this time for your weigh in. Be prepared for that. The honeymoon of quick loss ends all too quickly and that's when the real work begins. It's not a race!

Hang in there and continued success to you!

So true about the ups and downs of weight loss. There's a sticky about this very thing:

It's exciting in the beginning, which is great, but we all need to be aware of what's coming a ways down the road, so when our losses pause, we know that its a normal thing.

Congrats on your success so far. Sticking to the plan will get you the weight lose you desire...but you gotta stick to it. Even if it is coming off slowly. At least it is coming off. Do take your measurements too as they can move when the scale isn't.
