  • caffine!

today is my first day being off caffine totally, even though i have been on induction i have keept one cup of coffee for the sanity of my family but have gradually weaned myself off by mixing half caf then 3/4 caf- so today is the first full decaf day.
But, i have had brain fog all day- i am feeling a bit like a zombie. i went to the gym with the hopes that exercising would clear my head and it didn't. so i am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem and how long did it take to kick the caffine habit?

    Re: caffine!

Hi there! I'm on day 5 cafeine free today. The first 3 days was absolute ****, but I woke up this morning feeling great! Just hang in there, I know I'm only just starting but to kick the coffee was the worst and the best thing I ever did. Good luck, I know night-time is the worst for us coffee-addicts, but drink alot of water if you crave coffee, it worked for me!!

Cold turkey here too...cold turkey for caffiene, sugar, everything like that.
Just keep telling yourself that this is your 'trial by fire' and once you've run this gauntlet of detoxification and withdrawal, it's over ...absolutely OVER and done with and you'll feel fine. Actually you'll feel better than ever. A few days of feeling gross and tired (and achey, and miserable and snarky, and...and..lol) is a small price to pay to get this all out of your system.
        Hang in there!

Yes, you may have a headache on and off for a few days. I'm going through the exact same thing right now. I am on induction, but I was still drinking coffee and diet soda. This weekend I quit, and I have had brain fog/headaches ever since. You could take some non-caffine aspirin to help you with the headaches. Good luck!

I went cold turkey with induction as well. It was AWFUL! The headaches were the worst. My poor kids asked me why I was being so mean. By day 4, the headaches weren't a constant pounding. By day 5 they were a dull roar. Day 6 I was starting to feel better. Day 7 it was barely noticable. By day 9 I was feeling great. I was going from anywhere between 6 and 12 shots of expresso and 8-12 cups of coffee a day to nothing though.

I was drinking 3-4 mugs a day of coffee (not THAT addicted then eh?), and just went to decaf tea and coffee during induction. To be honest, I don't think I experienced any withdrawal symptoms whatsoever.

if you had to have it then you were addicted no matter how little or how much you had.

                      glad you are feeking better.

I only ever had one cup in the morning, and maaaaaybe one in the afternoon if I didn't have to work the next day, and I know I sure felt it when I went cold turkey. It doesn't take much.
Glad to hear you are toughing it out!
