Before starting the Atkins program I rarely ever ate meat and fat, I lived mostly on carbs. After 5 days whenever I think of my next meal of eggs, cheese or meat I feel nauseated and almost gag but I still manage to eat it. Did anyone else have this problem and did it go away after Induction?

Re: Will I Start to Like It?
I never had the problem of disliking meat as I have always eaten it. But the comment you made about feeling naushious (sp) from eating too much protein does happen to people.
It will pass, the biggest tip I can give to you is to up your water intake for the time being as this will help flush those feelings through your body.
Also, no matter how sick you feel, you must still eat. But rest assured you will get over it.
Good luck.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!
I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

You are eating your veggies as well as the 'meat and fat'?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Will I Start to Like It?
Remember, Atkins is a lot more than "eggs, cheese, and meat!"
Even on induction. What did you eat beforehand? A lot of veggies? 3 cups of veggies can go a long way, and when mayonnaise, full fat dressings, butter, olive oil--all healthy fats--are added, they can be very delicious also. Variety is key to prevent boredom. If a certain meat makes you feel nauseous, try chicken or fish or some other alternative.

Please post your typical menu, include the amounts of food too, for example, 6 ounces of chicken breast.Originally posted by sofarsogoodBefore starting the Atkins program I rarely ever ate meat and fat, I lived mostly on carbs. Re: Will I Start to Like It?
This was my menu for yesterday:
Breakfast - omlette (2 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, 1/2 cup tomato) 1 ounce cheddar cheese, fried in 1 TBS unsaled butter
Lunch - 1 chicken breast, 1 ounce Gouda cheese, 1 cup salad with 1 TBS ranch
Supper - 1 large pork chop fried in 1 TBS butter, 1.5 cups salad, 2 tbs ranch
Please tell me if there is anything in this that you think may be making me feel gaggy.
Thanks

Re: Will I Start to Like It?
Instead of eating just plain meat or eggs, you might consider making one of a bunch of recipes that are around. There's a low-carb pizza recipe and a mock fried rice recipe that are floating around, and both are great. Check out the recipe forums for ideas, as well as Linda's low carb recipes:

The induction-friendly ones have an asterisk next to them. All the ones that my sweetie and I have tried are yummers

Do you know what percentage of fat/protein/carbs this amounts to?Originally posted by sofarsogoodPlease tell me if there is anything in this that you think may be making me feel gaggy.
you can find out by entering them imto www.fitday.com
We aim for 65%fat/30% protein/5% carbs on induction.
There is a good sticky about using fitday here in the 14-day forum http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5775Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Will I Start to Like It?
I see you have alot of input but I couldn't resist being that some days feel like I am on fear factor trying to choke down my food. I too lived on carbs and get the gaggy feeling, sometimes it keeps me from eating. There are a couple of things that I think help me. One is seafood. I found that boiling up a couple crabs(or shrimp) and keeping them on hand helps to just pop off a leg and snack it with some butter. Two is mix your meat in with a salad, sometimes I will just tear up some lettuce and a table spoon or two of ranch and it is enough to keep me from curling my lip. Also keep a big cup of ice water close by for a chaser. It should pass. Keep it up!

Re: Will I Start to Like It?
Thanks Beekel. I'll give those ideas a try. I have some lobster legs in the freezer for tommorrow.
2Big4mysize. I just feel like gagging when I think about what I am going to eat for a meal. Breakfast is the worst for me (eg. eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.) I think it's because I'm so used to just eating something like toast or cereal.

Re: Will I Start to Like It?
you don't ghave to eat breakfast foods you know, you can use any food that is from your lists at any meal. you can make flax meal cereal instead of eggs.
if you want to do it vegetarian style you can. We have several very successful folk Missy90 was even working with Dr Atkins med center folk to get her's going. Dr Atkins treated many vegetarians.
