  • Low carb smoothies

    Hey all -
I came upon a low carb smoothie yesterday and was wanting the imput of others. It's made by Dannon and called light'n fit carb control smoothie. It claims to have only 4 grams of carbs and is ok tasting. What knowledge do any of you have on this product? I am on my second week of a clean induction and I am not eating any of the snacks or foods marketed to low carb dieters. Just eating what is on the list of approved vegies and meats ect. Thanks for your opinion!

You are doing right. Just keep up with meat and vegies. I would have to see the list of ingredients but its probably more appropriate for the dairy rung.

Google came up with this link...

Here's the ingredient list for the Berries 'n Cream smoothie...

Water, skim milk, cream, strawberry puree, milk protein concentrate, blueberry puree, contains less than 1% of whey protein concentrate, natural and artificial flavors, modified corn starch, sucralose, potassium sorbate (to maintain freshness), malic acid, sodium citrate, Red 40, Blue1. Contains Active Yogurt Cultures.

I would wait until you reach the dairy rung of OWL berore trying it. It seems more targeted more towards South Beach than Atkins.

You're doing well then Save the plain yogurt until the Dairy rung of OWL. And if it has strawberries in it, then that's a fruit rung!

Which is first, the dairy or the berry LOL
I just bought Dana Carpenters cookbook of smoothies and (big sigh) its all got yogurt and other stuff. Nothing that we can make induction friendly

berries are rung 4 dairy is rung 2 so you are right Desertthorn it needs to wait for the berry rung.

you can make a low carb smoothie induction legal with a blender some frozen Splenda sweetened soda of your favotite flavor and some cream be sure you are able to handle cream first as a special catagory food. Blend then together and you have low carb induction smoothie of course you need to save this treat until after you have drunk all your water.

If you are a raw egg person or like me have access to paasturized eggs then you can make eggnog smoothie for breakfast if you want. You can either do it the easy way with the eggnog Davinci syrup or you can blend egg cream ice and add nutmeg. sweetner if you need it
