  • Helpppp im desperate :[

So I was on atkins about 4 days and every day I gained a pound. I was up almost four pounds and I was ready to flip out. I stopped it immediately.

I just dont know why I gained those 4, was I eating too much protein and not enough fiber? was the waste of the food weighing me down?

i'm attempting the diet again today because I definitely ate alot of carbs during thanksgiving and I want to drop about 10 by christmas when we have the family dinner.

Hi and welcome. I have a list of questions/requests so bear with me

    1. Post a couple of days of your menues. Include the amounts (ounces, cups, tablespoons, etc.) of the food you were eating.

    2. How much water were you drinking?

    3. Did you exercise?

    4. Were you eating any of the low carb foods like low carb bars, shakes, etc. If so what were they?

    5. You can expect to lose 5-10 % of the weight you need to lose during the first 14 Days of this diet.

    6. The daily weight gain of one pound sounds more like water weight gain (unless you were eating 3500 more calories than your body requires each day. Were you eating any highly salted foods like bacon, pork rinds, etc.?

      Breakfast -
1 piece of sausage, 1 egg

Lunch - 1 cup of broccoli or cauliflower with butter

Dinner - 8oz steak (i would've eaten more veggies with dinner but i was stuffed)

the water.. definitely NOT enough. maybe 2 or 3 glasses a day.

Thats what i basically ate every day when i was on the diet.

      Today i've had

      Breakfast - coffee & sausage 240 calories

Lunch - I made a 3.5oz steak and ate part but I cant cook lol so it was gross and i fed the rest to my dog probably 80-100 calories? oh and a 12oz glass if ice water and half a diet coke

Dinner - My mom is making baked pork chops with potatoes and carrots but i'll probably eat a pork chop and broccoli, a couple glasses of ice water and the other half of my diet coke.

I'm also buying bagged salad today to help me with eating more veggies.

I don't eat any low carb shakes or bars but I do get this 7gms of carbs per slice whole wheat bread/high fiber that my grocery store sells and its only 35 calories a slice. Its really good.

I also have been working out twice a day.

                Re: Helpppp im desperate :[

Pork rinds are pig not cow....but yes, they can be a bit gross to handle. I use mine to scoop up tuna salad...sounds super gross, but it's surprisingly tasty.

As others have mentioned I also encourage you to read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002, DANDR for short. It's a definite must read so you understand the 'why' behind the diet.

Yes, you do have to give up things you love...but think about what those things have ever done for you other than make you fat.
Some things like whole grain breads will be introduced later on at the appropriate time, so no need to fret.

I don't know about you but I want this weight GONE, gosh darn it....and the best way I know of getting rid of it is to read the book, follow the Rules and eat correctly from the Acceptable Foods list. Eating also includes correct water intake...64 ounces per day PLUS an additional 8 ounces for each 25 pounds you want to lose. I think of the water as being the means to flush that fat out of my body and I have a water bottle near me at all times.

If the idea of pork rings is 'barf' (lol.... I *agree*!!), try nuking some pepperoni and having pepperoni chips as your crackers/scoops for things like chicken/tuna salad and or cream cheese. They're so yummy!!

Are you using Fitday? I've found it to be an essential part of Atkins, as it gives you total calories consumed as well as the percentages you need to reach each day (and lots of other good stuff, too). Best of all, it's *free*!!

I graduated from bootcamp in Jan. of this yr. (and can tell you *exactly* why I fell off the wagon in mid-Feb. - it was a *man* - shudder...), and highly recommend it as a way to get your 'rear in gear'. Give it a whirl.... you have nothing to lose except the weight. <smile>

Most public libraries have copies of the book. You might want to borrow one. As Moochie said, it is VERY important to read the book, in order to do this diet safely and properly.

By the way, what is your height and current weight?

I use fitday && I am thinking about going to the library today and checking out some books. We have one right up the road and if my mom goes with me to get a card i'll be able to walk up there and back everytime I need to take back books or look for books which is good exercise. Its probably a mile.

Today theres like hardly any atkins acceptable food at my house and right now im starved. Absolutely starving.

Oh yesterday when I woke up I lost a pound!

Today my goals are drinking more water, eating 20gms of carbs or less, getting to the library and getting in a 30 minute work out.

Hi there! What's your height/weight and stuff? Just looking at your menu I'd also say you aren't eating NEARLY enough calories as well. that's probably why you're so hungry! Don't be afraid to eat on this way of eating, and get your fat intake up, this will help with the hunger pangs. After a few days your appetite should actually decrease significantly. Use Fitday, it's a life saver! Good luck!
