I started induction today... I have done Atkins very successfully for about 18 months- got to goal, but now that I have been off- it is so difficult this time. I have had lots to deal with in the past couple of months- my husband was killed in an accident- he was commuting to work on his bicycle and was hit by a semi and killed instantly- so needless to say, I have some major changes to deal with. Since I have diabetes I really want to get back on track. So with some help from my friends I am going to do this again. Everything is just so hard right now- the loneliness is overwhelming- so the first thing I want to do is comfort myself with food.Anyway, I made it through day 1, tomorrow I will tackle day 2! I am going to go right now and find some good induction recipes- if anyone has any really good ones- please pass them on!!!

Re: Don't know if I can do this...
I too, lost a spouse, so heres a hug from me.
My husband died from a sudden blood clot to the heart back in June of 2003. Sometimes I don't think I will ever get over it, and sometimes I think will never truly enjoy life without him. He was my best friend.
But...I have to believe there is a purpose for my continued existence on this planet, even without him, and I don't want to waste life, which is a precious experience. I too, feel very lonely sometimes and wonder if there will ever be another person in my life who understood me the way he did.
I don't know the answer to that, but i'm not going to wait for the right guy to romance me, I'm going to romance myself and one of the ways I romance myself is by sticking to my Atkins lifestyle as closely as I can.
One thing I have found is that before Atkins I always blamed my eating behaviors on the stress in my life. Now with Atkins, I find that this WOL can be my rock, no matter what else is going on. After all, if my external life is a roller coaster, having my blood sugar on a roller coaster, is not going to help.
Atkins made it possible for me to live without diabetic medication and stay on an even mental and emotional keel. In this time of grief and sorrow, let your Atkins be the warm blanket you wrap yourself up in and find some peace and healing of the heart and mind.
Of course you can do it - we all can.

Re: Don't know if I can do this...
Congratulations on taking control of the part of life you CAN control.
As to good recipes - our recipe database seems to be down again but there is lots of info and ideas in the recipe forums down the main list of forums.
Another place to find good ideas is linda's low carb site
http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/
she even marks induction-suitable recipes with a * to help you get started.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!
