What can I drink besides water?

  • What can I drink besides water?

    Soda is out for me. I don't mind water for part of the time but it has a really nasty taste to me. flavored waters seem to have loads of carbs in them. What do you guys suggest?

    I make my own decaf flavored teas. High in antioxidants and carb free as long as you don't use sweetener. I'm in the same boat as you with water but found once I made sure I was getting my required amount and treating myself to tea, I evenually forgot to make tea and seemed to be just happy with water. I used to HATE water....

      yep find a bottled water you like that isd carb free and sweetner free and drink after a few weeks of just having water you will be amazed at how much you really like it. Temp effects flavor so experiment and find the temp of water you enjoy the most too.

        I've dieted before and actually worked in a restaurant that served 24 different brands of bottled water. I've tested. There are times that I lke water but I need some flavor. Thanks though.

          Just make sure you drink your minimum of 64 fluid ounces plus 8 more ounces for every 25 pounds you want to lose of PLAIN water (no flavours or sweeteners) as mandatory parts of your new way of eating along with your mandatory Atkins exercise and treat the other flavoured types you prefer as extra drinks.

            The way I always viewed water is it was like exercise. The weight was not going to come off without it. So just drink it quick and get over with. In time, it becomes a habit that you just do without much thinking about it, so like exercise, find one you absolutely don't hate and then make the best of it.

                I actually do drink my water. I drink 10 glasses. 3 morning 4 mid day 3 night. So no need to chastise me there Other drinks are like snacks to me. They keep my hands busy so that I'm not shacking on sugary products like I used to. So sorry I'm gonna keep them around. Thanks though I went to the supermarket last night and started to make my own no caffiene, no carb, no sugar, no asapartame drinks.

                  that hand to mouth habit is what got you needing Atkins in the first place and the addiction needs to be broken if you are going to be a long term Atkins big loser

                  do something else with your hands so they are trained not to go to your mouth and not feed you when you are not hungry. Take up knitting, needle work, writing, hand ball, paddle ball, any thing that retrains your hands way from your mouth.

                    Why does it feel like im being attacked and not supported? Regardless I'm a writer so I can't exactly knit while at my computer.

                      If it feels like you are being attacked, I am sorry. But drinking plain water is one of the biggest keys to success on this way of eating.

                      I'll apologise again though, we are not attacking you, we are just passing on important information that has helped countless people lose weight.

                      Honestly though, give it a couple of weeks and you will start to enjoy the taste.

                      I was very much like you when i started out on Atkins. I absolutely detested water. But now, I cant do with out it.

                          Good for you on drinking your water! Please don't get offended by all the "mommies" here. We just want to see you succeed at this the healthy way and too often when these things are posted, somebody is trying to find a way out of their water. Plus, when we're just starting out on this WOE, we tend to cling to everything that is familiar to us as much as we can because so much is being taken away. Many times we are just replacing habits with habits. If that helps at the beginning to get you on track to being able to control yourself - go for it! But just remember that once you have more control, that's when you want to start breaking (as opposed to replacing) the habits that got you here in the first place. It's just like why sweetener is limited - not necessarily that it causes stalls - mostly because we ought to be retraining ourselves not to feed the sugar monster within, as an example. That's also why 2Big pointed out the 'hand to mouth' habit you mentioned and fedding that habit might get you back into trouble - even if you fill it with tea or something else. So, just be careful and take these moments to examine yourself, as someone just might be pointing out a sore spot that needs to have some attention.

                            Probably because your intial question read like you are not drinking any water because you dont like it and were looking for permission to substitute it with the flavoured ones!!

                              Hello anyanka, she-bunny-fearer!

                              Have you tried a few drops of oil of oregano in your water? Girl, it's an acquired taste, but it's pretty awesome. I'd give it a shot. It's flavorliciousness wrapped up in non-guilty-happy. Aside from that, ooo is a fungicide Dr A recommends in the book.
