Ok, I know this is weird.. I have done Atkins in the past and have had the same symptons when doing induction.. Though I am staying between 15-20 carbs daily I am experiencing a "brief almost black out" and seeing stars when I get up too fast.. I'm guessing if this has anything to do with the low carb intake.. and am wondering if anyone else experiences this too? Thanks for your help

Re: seeing stars??
This often happens if you get up too quickly, though your experience seems more severe than I have ever found it myself.
How long have you been on induction?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: seeing stars??
...and how often a day do you eat? Do you go longer than the six hours, or do you try and have a few bites every few hours or so to keep your blood sugars level?
Some folks say they feel better when their carb count is closer to the 20, so when you are done Induction, you could hop on the first rung of OWL, which is an extra 5 carbs worth of veggies a day.
As always, when in doubt, check it out, and go see your doctor!

Please see your physician. Feeling faint or nearly passing out is not normal and should be medically evaluated.Originally posted by ashley041185Ok, I know this is weird.. Re: seeing stars??
I've been having this problem too. This started just over a week ago, I'm now in my 4th week. I've tried eating more carbs than my initial 2 weeks and I eat frequently but it seems to be getting worse. It's now happening 2-4 times a day. I not only get a really bad head rush (it IS like blacking out almost), but my face/ lips get tingly, once it passes I'll feel a little shaky for a 20 seconds or so then it will all go away.♥Started Atkins on December 8th, 2005

Re: seeing stars??
I have naturally low blood pressure and this is an issue for me at times. It was especially an issue during induction. My doctor told me it was because of the diuretic effect this way of eating has that was making it really stand out.
For me, it was no big deal. It took care of itself in a few days as my body adjusted and my fluid levels planed out.
Gonna go with the flow here - talk to your doctor. It's WAY better to be safe than sorry.
When you do talk to your doctor, be sure to show him/her a written account of exactly what you've been eating and how much - I'd even go so far as to say don't give your menu a name. Let him/her evaluate the menu on it's own and go from there. The instant you mention "Atkins", you may find that becomes the focus instead of your health issues, and it's an easy arguement to get around when they're looking at a list of whole, natural foods.

It also seems like this might be a good idea when telling 'opinionated' friends and family what your doing ~ at least at first. I've gotten some crappy comments from people I know; I blow it off because they obviously don't know what their talking about.Originally posted by BrookI have naturally low blood pressure and this is an issue for me at times. Re: seeing stars??
We'll blame it on the low-fat craze of the 90's...
