Mayo is find, but Salad Dressing isn't. Good for you, reading labels is really important. I remember when I first started, I went to the store and just looked at all the carbs that I consumed that I didn't know. I think it was up to the hundreds before Atkins

      Re: Mayo

I believe this is in one of the stickies. If you look at the ingredients in the mayonnaise, sugar is listed toward the end. That is because the list of ingredients is fashioned from the order of proportion of each ingredient. And mayo is a product of eggs, eggs are allowed on the induction list.

Just don't go crazy when it says 2 tbsp is allowed. It isn't two HEAPING tbsps. Like someone else said somewhere else in this forum, 2 tbsp isn't all that much when you swipe off the heaping tops of a tablespoon.

      Good luck,

        Re: Mayo

mayo doesn't have a quantity limit. There is a sugarless brand called Duke's but it is a regional mayo.

        Happy low carbing.

          Re: Mayo

I have systematically been avoiding any product with sugar listed anywhere in the label... have I been wasting my time and can in fact eat mayonnaise? I thought sugar=put it back quick? Or does this just apply to the fact it says 0 carb?

Amy, this bit of advice only refers to you really, as i am not sure of the brands in the US.

But here in the UK, it is ok for you to eat Hellmans Full Fat mayo. It does have sugar, but is very minimal. Its the only mayo that can be legally eaten in the uk.

I just want to add to my post above.

There is also another legal mayo available in Lidl shops. I am assuming that it is their own brand. I havent seen it myself, but I will ask for Ellizien to post the details here.

                    Thanks

                      Re: Mayo

Yes - the lidl's 'own brand' fullfat mayo (not the lowfat one) has 0.93 carbs per 100 grams and its ingredients listed are:
veg.oil, water, vinegar, egg yolk, egg white, salt, sugar, lemon juice, guar gum & spices.
Like most brands it has some sugar but very low on the list and with that low carb count per 3.5 ounces, a couple of tablespoons is not going to contain much sugar!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
