I am on Day 4, and I just feel so tired. I haven't done any exercise yet, I plan to start today, but I just feel so worn out that it is hard to get up and movin'. I still have cravings too, but I am able to resist them. However, I keep dreaming of sugar at night
(frosted flakes and brownies). I wake up worried that I cheated. Anyway, my question is, does the desire for sugar ever go away? I am now able to resist sugar easier, but I still would run straight to it if I was allowed.

YES YES YES, it gets MUCH easier .. stay away from all sweeteners and you will SLAY the sugar beast once and for all!! As for exercise, do what you can for now .. even a little is better than none ... within a few more days, you should have more energy than ever and can resume a full exercise plan .. remember to eat!!

Re: Does it get easier?
Hi. The short answer to your questions is a big YES.
It does get so much easier. After a couple of weeks of you following induction to the letter, you will be amazed at how your cravings have just disappeared.
A squeaky clean two weeks will change your tastes, so much so that you won't even want sugar.
With regards to your dreams, that is really common. I was the same, I was also the same when I gave up smoking. Its scary how realistic they can be isnt it?

Re: Does it get easier?
Agree with Rich. Sugar can be seen as an addiction that rewards the opiatelike pleasure centers of the brain. It can be akin to quitting smoking: when I quit smoking years back, I thought it would be impossible and that the cravings would never end. After a little while you stop thinking about it so much and eventually you pretty much forget about it. You can have people lighting up around you and you're not thinking 'man, I wish I could have one.' You probably think it's a bad habit and bad for your health...like sugar.

Re: Does it get easier?
YES
, It does get easier every day. While there will be temptations everywhere you go, just think about how great you are going to look and feel.
I will say though, I still have dreams about cookies and brownies... I still miss them, I have to be honest. The only thing that keeps me from digging in is how I look now, oh, and that I would have extreme intestional issues should I start eating that again.
Workout as much as you can, but you should try really hard to do anything in the beginning. Trust me, I know this one for a fact.
With the holidays and traveling, I was not able to work out as much as I would have liked and I feel terrible> The scale has not moved but my butt looks HUGE!

Re: Does it get easier?
It does get easier! Make sure you are drinking enough water and hopefully you should start feeling more energized again. I'm now on my second week of induction and im doing ok too. Funny about your dream i had the exact same one a few nights ago. I awoke horrified thinking i had ruined my diet eating candy and ice cream. But alas, it was just a dream!

Re: Does it get easier?
Hey, I'm NEW and I know exactly what you mean. Before Atkins I used to eat Ginsing for breakfast & lunch and jog a mile a day. Ate once before 7pm & Lost 2lbs a day. Now that I'm looking for a lifestyle, I incorporate those old tactics to assist me w/ Atkins. When I get a craving, LIKE RIGHT NOW, I take a couple Ginsing and keep Atkins moving. I cursed myself real bad too. Like Brook told me last night in the chat room, There is nothing in the fridge taht taste better than looking/feeling thin. I bake chicken and boil eggs the night before and snack on them between my meals. I got to do this and I will, and you will too.
As to your question, does it get easier, I sure hope so, but I tell you this. If it was easy, errrbody would be thin. I tell you what, you help me & I'll do the same in return, beause I'm only in my 3rd day

Oh boy does it get easier!Originally posted by mknc4everI am on Day 4, and I just feel so tired. I had tried to 'start' atkins for a little over 4 years, but I never did more than 8 days straight on induction. Then with the support on an Australian forum I made the committment to do the first 2 weeks. 5 months later here I am.
Yes I did have a lot of cravings. These go away, but they do rear their head every now and again. It's just the longer you are on plan, the easier it gets to deal with the cravings. And the cravings occur less and less as time goes on.
Don't think that induction is forever - it's not designed to be. I know a lot of people do extended induction (I respect their right to do so) but moving onto OWL phase helped me stick to atkins. I now eat fruit - strawberries and blueberries, I have a bit more salad, I don't freak out if I have carrot. I have had one cheat meal and regretted it, and went back on plan the next day.
But you must stick to induction first to get the reward later!
You can do this!
