  • Oh noooo I feel like crying.. What have you doneee you fool...

You guys, I know y'all are gonna butcher me for this ..... I'm so guiltyyy

I did some thing EXTREMELY stupid today... I had THREE COOKIES. Chocolate chip cookies. 27 g of carbs ALLTOGETHER.. I am on my 10th day of induction and it was going SO well.... I didn't cheat or ANYTHING... I don't know WHY I touched the cookies... And these aren't even the good home made ones. They're the horrible Chips Ahoy mass produced garbage.

After eating them, I thought, should I throw them up... Then thought, wow one dumb idea after another. And I drank a lot of water. I don't know why. For some reason (phsychological ones, perhaps) it felt that if I drank a lot of water, somehow the carbs might dilute away... heh.

I know it was dumb. What I really want to know is how this will affect my induction. Would I have to carry on with an extended induction? Will this stall things badly?

...Criticism accepted *covers face with hands* ... I feel so dumb. waaa

    Hi Kanita,

Oh bummer, and for chips ahoy, ick!

I wonder what you ate earlier in the day...it almost sounds like cravings were kicking up from something, can you post your menu?

Or had you not eaten for awhile?

Just get back on Induction and finish up with a clean induction, drink your water and STOP that!

    Take care!

I agree with sheshy, you might have eaten something that caused the craving. But you did good girl, you drank some water, you didn't throw up and you came here.
You don't have to do the whole two weeks of induction over again, just go on and finish your 4 days and then descide if you what to continue on induction or if you want to try the OWL

        This is what I ate:

        morning:
1/4 cup cabbage, carrots and a chicken wiener

Snack : an ounce of cheese
I had also, I tihnk 3-4 caramelled peanuts.
Lunch: a faux-jita... lettuce wrap with beef bologna inside

After two hours I got hungry. So I cooked some mushroom, tofu, cabbage and lettuce up with vinegar and oil and lemon juice.

After 2 more hours... hunger hit me again. I think it is because today, I had NOTHING to do... I was home all day.

And then I cheated.... about 5:30 ish.

Kanita, it's okay! This little bit of debauchery will blow your day today Atkins-wise; but all that means is that you start fresh tomorrow & do it right. That's all! Today was a mistake; let it build character, move on, & learn from it.

            Hi Kanita,

If you're following a clean 14 Day Induction, you'll want to avoid the carrots and the peanuts, they're not on the acceptable Induction Food list...and could have contributed to the cravings.

Be really careful with the wieners too, some are really high in carbs, not all wieners are created equal! That goes for the bologna too!

I agree with Sheila though, use it for a lesson learned and move on. Just make sure you eat only those items on the Induction food list for now though.

            Take care!

I'm sure you will use it at a lesson in the future. Just remember how bad you feel now when you are tempted to cheat again. I know how you feel. I have a problem with eating too much cheese. You just have to pick yourself up and keep going.

More often than not a cheat can be a sort of blessing in disguise. As you will no doubt have learnt from this experience. You will always remember how bad you felt afterwards and will not want a repeat performance.

Don't let the setback define you. Let what you do each and every other day define who you are. People have setbacks or failure of will occassionally unfortunately. You've seen the setback. You've also seen the guilt at what happened. Start making plans on how to continue to act according to the plan all the time by planning against this happening again. Work on getting some of processed food (weiners, bologna) out of your diet -- they may be faster to cook, but they also could contribute to your cravings.

I agree about cutting out the processed meats and carrots, and also, are you having enough fats? it appears your fat intake maybe low. The caramel peanuts would countain sugar, which is a big no no, as are peanuts on induction.

You may want to re-review the induction list of what you can have. And also try to up your fats. A good idea is to open an account at www.fitday.com to track your fat/carbs. your percents should be around 65% fat 5% carbs, 30% protein.

Next time if you get hungry try adding a high fat snack, such as cheese, devilled eggs, egg salad etc.

I agree with the other posters that you have to let it go and move on, it was not that big of a mess up, but one you do need to avoid in the future.
I also agree you need to watch the foods you eat. The less processed stuff you eat, the less chance you have of falling off the wagon so to speak.
Make sure you eat enough at your meals and you that you have frequent enough meals that you are never hungry. I usually have my dinner between seven and eight and that helps me to stay full the rest of the night. I rarely eat after 8 and feel fine, but I am very restricted in my food and it seems to be what works for me. Also, water, I drink a lot of water. It fill me up and keeps me from eating when I do not want to.
Hang in there and just move on. Next time the urge to do something like that hits you , if you are at home, brush your teeth, nothing tastes very good for a while after and that will give you time to let the craving pass.
You did the right thing coming here and talking about it. Too many times guilt can cause the entire diet to be in danger. It is just one small step back, just take some good big ones forward today, it will be okay !!! Stephie

Re: Oh noooo I feel like crying.. What have you doneee you fool...

I don't have classes right now and I am at home all day... Which is what leads me to boredom... and thus eating. I think that's what's making me eat garbage. Do you guys have a routine of when you eat lunch, then a snack in between? I think I need to enforce a routine up on myself other wise I will keep telling my self it's okay to eat whenever I am hungry.

I really like atkins, and I don't want to go back to a high carb diet ever again. But my initial plan was to lose 15 pounds only, as I was 125. I am pretty short 5'3'' and a half. I weighed my self today and saw that I am about 118 right now.

Don't tell me that I don't need to lose any more, as really, that doesn't help. My friends tell me all the time. And to me, it's unfathomable that I have gone past listening to criticism. I believe that this is the healthier way of eating and living, and this is what I want to continue doing.

Do you think I should continue with an extended induction or move right on the OWL? I am on Day 11... and my day to decided on an extended induction is approaching... SOON! hehe.

Thanks you so much for helping me out... It will really help me begin today. I'll read this daily, in the morning and hopefully that will boost my sad *** will power. Lol

If you don't have a lot more to lose you should start in OWL so you can work through the rungs and then get yourself to pre-maintenance and maintenance. You will still lose weight but you'll be working towards the lifetime plan.

I usually eat bfst in the morning, then lunch, sometimes a small snack in the afternoon (since I usually do a workout before dinner and it's more than 6 hours between lunch and dinner) and then dinner. Occasionally I will have a small snack in the evening but only if I'm truly feeling hungry. I don't usually feel hungry so this routine is fine. If you are bored (and I'm assuming you don't feel like spending the days cleaning house lol) why not spend more time exercising? Go for a long walk or get some videos from the library to try out. Or spend time here. There's lots to read, that's for sure.

I cheated a little bit when I first started, but the guilt is immeasurable!! I'm always like nooooooooo I've ruined a whole good 3 weeks!! Now I get guilty if i have what I call a 'bad atkins day' and drink lots of diet coke or eat some sugar free choc or whatever. Guilt is great. Just learn from it, helps you be more determined not to cheat in future.

When I get up I plan my day based on what time it is when I get up and when I eat breakfast. I then pencil in my next meals and when I need to have another liter bottle of water, that way I know when to finish the one I am drinking . I write in pen the actual time if it is differant than the estimate, but it does help keeping records all day.
You can do it, and it will help your moods so much. I feel wonderful now that I am low carbing. Losing weight is a great bonus, but just the benefits I get in losing my depression and feeling awful are worth low carbing. Good luck !!! Stephie
