  • Please Help Newbie Here!!!!

    Couple of things......

    I Started 3 days ago and I am looking for suggestions.

    Is mayo ok? I have read different posts on here with different opinions. I love chicken salad and tuna salad, are they bad?

    Should I make fried chicken wings or bake them?

    Is too much salad bad? I like to have chef salads or a grilled chicken salad for lunch on a daily basis...

    And lastly.....playoff football at a friends house on Saturday. I love beer but will substitute for Stoli Rasberry and Diet Sprite. Is this a bad thing?

    Have you read the book? We use the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR for short). It tells you everything you need to know as far as food that's acceptable for induction. Someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly with some links for you, I'm sure. In the meantime though, yes, mayo is okay. All fats are acceptable. You can fry or bake the wings but don't put any flour or anything on them (I dip mine in butter with Franks Hot Sauce and then parmesan cheese and bake them - no frying mess and they are delish). You can have 3 cups of salad a day or 2 cups of salad and one cup of "other" vegetables (which are set out in the book and somewhere here in a sticky). It's best to stay away from soda as it can stall you. You have to watch the amount of sweetener you use. And alcohol isn't allowed on induction either. Sad yes, but eventually you can have just about everything. Keep your first 2 weeks clean though and you will be happy with the results. Good luck!

        Mayo is great. enjoy

        Which do you like, doesn't matter.

        Is too much salad bad? I like to have chef salads or a grilled chicken salad for lunch on a daily basis... As long as you keep the veggies at 2-3 cups a day, salad is a great choice and after your induction is over, add another cup. I love Taco, (without the chips) Cobb and Tuna

        Diet Sprite seems to be one of the popular drinks around here and I don't know about Stoli. There are low carb beers that you can add once your in OWL.
