  • Day 3....

And I feel GREAT!!! WHOOO!!! I'm starting day 3. I felt like real crap after day 1. Big headache, no energy. Yesterday, not too bad at all..today, GREAT! I just had a baby October 25th. I was around 174-176 by the time I had her. I am 5'3" and small framed. I weighed around 130 before I had her, and wasn't happy with my weight even then. Around 115 is good for me So, I have lost weight on my own <down to 140lbs now> but I know if I didn't get rid of my carbs, I would be in trouble. When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I had gestational diabetes. I was tested again with this last one, and I was 'borderline'. I did the three hour glucose test, and on hour 3 my numbers went from 164 to 70! In ONE hour, it plummeted THAT MUCH. So, no wonder I felt like crap all the time! It took me until TODAY to realize, I have been going on a carb roller coaster this whole time! I ate carbs til they came out my ears! Example breakfast: 3 cinnamon waffles <frozen kind> with tons of syrup and a diet coke. PFFT! No wonder I crashed later. I was an irritable wreck with no energy because I was crashing all day long. My husband is joining this diet with me. He is 5'11" and weighed around 265-270lbs at the beginning of my pregnancy. We bought a scale, and on Tuesday, he weighed 294lbs! He is doing extremely well following the diet so far. He is so disgusted with his weight <we never had a scale in the house before> that he is willing to do what it takes..even if that means he can't snack on those homeade cookies I used to make ALL the time. He is also doing SO WELL with his portion sizes that I am giving him. He used to want seconds and thirds, now I don't make enough for seconds or thirds <and he isn't even asking>. I just wanted to post...cuz I feel so damn good! I'm really glad this forum is here, It really inspires me to read all of your stories.
Edit: Just so it doesn't look like I lost 35lbs in 2 months..my baby weighed 8lbs 13oz when she was born. I actually weighed 153lbs the next day. I guess all that baby, water, etc. was a good 20lbs immediately gone

    Hi Coitrina!

I am on day 5 and I feel pretty good. I saw that you have almost the same goal as I do, I weigh 140 and have set my goal weight for 118. I know this diet works great for loosing large amounts of weight but I havent talked to anyone who has a goal of 25lb or less. Have you?? It just doesn't seem right that you can loose weight eating the kinds foods that we are eating!! Its feels like cheating!! lol!

      hi and welcome Coitrina!

Good for you and your husband for committing to a healthy lifestyle. It's a good thing your getting cookies and things like that out of your house, especially since you have a growing baby. You'll be able to avoid addicting your child to junk food. Teach your child proper nutrition and you'll decrease his/her chances of becoming an obese child or adult.

LOL! Tell me about it! I had an egg omlette with cream cheese inside <nice and filling> with 2 pieces of bacon. It's crazy to think I can lose weight on a diet like that! I go for the spinach leaf chicken salad with some yummy ranch dressing and bacon bits for lunch..then some nice fattening meaty dinner with a cup of veggies. I snack on a little cheese inbetween. I don't know anyone with a 25lb or less goal <except for you now hehe> but I have had a few friends lose alot of weight on this diet. I do realize <atleast I THINK> we won't lose it as dramatically, because we don't have as much..but who knows? I do think it will take a few months. Watch out...I actually feel like exercising. HA!

Haha!! Good for you!! I still don't have enough energy to exercise yet but next week I am going to MAKE myself!! (will you remind me of that next week??) Your egg omlette sounds delish!! Isn't eating fun now! I have been trying out new recipes for dinner every night (found a great site!) and everything has been sooo good!! Even my family loves them! My problem is sweets. My family is big on eating sweets, especially icecream every night (which is why I gained 25lbs in the first place!) so not being able to have anything sweet gets to me sometimes. I found bread and butter pickels made with splenda that satisfy the sweet tooth thing when it happens and after getting others advice I count it as 1 carb (for the splenda). I agree with you about a smaller weight loss taking longer, I set my goal for 3lbs a week and am planning on weighing in on Sunday, my one week mark. I guess we will see then!!

lo carb cheese cake. I knew it must exist..since most of the ingredients are on the safe list. I'm sure there are a number of variations out there. I was thinking on making a recipe..cut in half. Then, put the ingredients in muffin cups so I can't eat more than I should. Maybe you could treat yourself to that when your family eats ice cream?

              Re: Day 3....

There are some cheese cake recipes down in the food section and in the cookbook.

As long as this is not a daily ocurrence!!
Dr Atkins recommended that desserts should not be a daily treat, but for special occasions.
Fix yourself a yummy savoury dessert instead - cheese maybe?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

*POP!* There goes my little balloon! Well, good thing we post here, so others can keep us in line. I haven't made a dessert yet, but I could very well see myself getting stuck having it everyday if I didn't have someone to keep me away. Thanks Elizellen

And that's the great thing about this board!!! We need you guys to keep us neebies in line!! I only want sweets when I see my family eating them so maybe that's a good excuse to use that time to --should I say it??-- exercise...
