    Re: Heavy Cream

You sure can. Heavy cream is a special category food and you are allowed up to three ounces per day. I have no idea what sort of amount that would whip up to. It is a special category food meaning that it can slow down weight loss for some people.

I'll throw my 2 cents in...the idea of Induction is to try to get rid of that darn sugar monster...you might want to try to go without 'sweet treats' even if it is splenda...it made it easier for me in the next phases and helped get rid of the want of sweets! (*steps off soap box*)

        Take care!

I agree with Sheshy that if you can avoid sweetened food for induction it will help you defeat your sugar monster.

Have some yummy high-fat legal snacks prepared and eat them instead. Once your body realises that it will get fed with non-sweet food when it begs for sugar the siren voices will stop calling your name!!

Just as a reminder, the daily limit on cream is
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three tablespoons a day; note carbohydrate content)
The extra amount of 3 ounces quoted by another poster comes in the 'special category' section not as a daily ocurrence!
          Special Category Foods
To add variety, each day you can also eat 10 to 20 olives, half a small avocado, an ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Here are 2 sweets for your sweet tooth that are induction friendly. Probably something you shouldn't do everyday but once in awhile is ok. I know it has saved me from diving into the kids snacks from time to time. Even though im not having huge cravings anymore i still find myself looking through the cupboards occasionally..."what's to eat?"
a tip for the flax cookie is to put it into a plastic bowl instead of parchment paper and after a couple of minutes on high in the microwave flip over bowl onto plate and enjoy, your own big crunchy cookie, which is also good with whip cream...
did i mention i like sweets??

Tina N~I have to agree with Sheshy. Over December I didnt want to be left out of everyone else having all of the yummy Christmas treats so I indulged in heavy whipping cream and cream cheese treats...well now I am 4 pounds heavier and I have been fighting the "sugar demon" since. Good luck and take care ~Kim

                Re: Heavy Cream

I wanted to chime in here as well.
Induction is a time to come to terms with our relationship with foods, and sweet things have been a huge problem for many of us in our lives. A lot of us celebrated and consoled with sweet treats and this is the perfect time to deal with that behaviour, and change it.
I'm the poster child for food-medicating myself during the ups and downs of my life and I can happily say that now, if I've had a really bad day, the idea of buying a block of chocolate on the way home doesn't enter my head anymore, and you have NO idea what a victory that is.

When your body is crying out for sweets, go ahead and eat something from the Acceptable Foods list...try a fat/protein combo (like an egg, or deli meat wrapped around cheese) as it will satisfy you quicker and sustain you longer.
Teach your body that if it is hungry, it will get fed, but YOU are calling the shots now.
In time you'll get back in tune with your hunger signals, and most importantly, your emotional signals...and you'll know if you are craving sweets because you are bored, lonely or whatever.

It's an amazing journey, that's for sure!

And yes, whipping cream is allowed, and so is splenda...but perhaps I've given you something to think about as well.
