My husband and I started Atkins on Tuesday. I bought a scale that measures fat and water percentages..and on Monday he weighed himself, but didn't allow himself to get the water and fat percentage done. So, he weighed 294 monday..and today I asked him to do the fat and water so I could keep record. Well, he weighed 283! Talk about SHOCK! We both are fully aware that it has alot to do with water loss, and we are NOT expecting these types of numbers every week <in fact we wouldn't want them to be like that> but it was an absolute shock to see 11lbs go away in 6 days! BTW, I weighed 140.8lbs, and weigh 139.6
my goal is to lose 1.5 lbs a week, so I am perfectly happy! I fully expect him to slow down, or even stall for a week simply because he may gain some of that water back..plus when we initially weighed him it was in the evening, so there are a few factors to consider with this 11lbs gone. Regardless, I'm happy that he isn't carrying it around. What he lost in these few days, is around what our new little daughter weighs! His knees are so bad from all the weight he carries, that I just can't wait until he can get up from a sitting position, and not be in pain. My husband used to drink water like a fish <he is a welder..and we live in Las Vegas so it gets hot here, esp. during the summer>. He drinks just as much water, if not more..but he is peeing ALOT. He could drink a ton before, and just retain it. Amazingly, I looked at him just last night and said, "your belly is starting to hang". It used to look like a nice round balloon, and now it honestly looks like its deflating. It hangs over his shorts instead of proudly protruding LOL!
Anyhoo, that's our 'almost 1 week' progress
we are doing great!
