  • Messed up again!

Ugh - I don't seem to be able to ever get it right. I should start carrying the acceptable foods list around in my pocket so I don't keep messing up. I'm trying so so hard to be good, but today I had some brie at lunch and see that it's not on the list. I didn't have very much - if I stay super low carb for the rest of the day, is there a chance it won't affect the induction weight loss??

I'm getting to the point where I feel like if I'm not going to be able to get to and maintain ketosis - I may as well have a cookie instead of some food that I thought was ok but turns out not to be.

The good news is that I have lost 5 lbs. in my 1st week - so maybe I should stop kicking myself as I'm extremely pleased w/ the results.

Thanks to all you Atkins experts for your helpful guidance and inspiring weight loss!!

    Re: Messed up again!

You should be happy with your results. congratulations on the 5 lb. loss. Brie is not a cookie. Don't eat cookies!!! You should carry the list around. I have it in my purse. It helps when I'm shopping too, if I want to try something different I check to see if it's on the list. Okay, so you weren't supposed to eat the brie. Now you know. Drink lots of water (b/c that always helps no matter what) and let it go. It probably won't slow you down, but it probably would if you ate it all the time or in large amounts before you get to the appropriate rung.

Sweetie, you're doing great! Congrats on your loss, that's awesome!

I did the same thing at first. I thought I was doing sooo great, only to find out that I was eating things not on the acceptable foods list.

Do it, carry it around with you, I do. I have one in my car, in my wallet and in my purse, just in case. I have one on my fridge too! If it will help you, go for it.
You'll memorize it pretty much, I know I did and I don't even like half the veggies!

You can't help what happened, only what happens from here on out. Double check everything, and no, I don't think you should stay super low carb for the rest of the week. JUst go back to how it should be. I tried to over correct and it threw me off BIG TIME.

I have to tell you something...intentionally eating a cookie, and accidently eating something you shouldn't have had that you thought was okay, are two different things, even if it is worse than the cookie. You didn't know. You thought you were making a good decision for your body and you were trying to be healthy. To me, that's much better than self-sabotage.

      Keep up the great work!!!

All aged cheeses are okay on Induction. Fresh cheeses, like cottage cheese are not.

Definitely begin to carry the Induction Acceptable Foods List and the Rules of Induction. Like I posted in another thread "Eat first, ask questions later" isn't going to help you out at all on any weight program, let alone Atkins.

You will, over time, feel more comfortable with your choices and know which ones are on the list and which ones aren't. If in doubt, don't have any until you check your list.

Way to go with your 5 lb weight loss! Don't kick yourself down so much...we get enough of that in real life! *HUGS* If you find that you've slipped, just pick yourself up, refresh your memory of the rules of induction, and get back to low-carbin'! As far as the cheese goes, remember to limit your cheese intake to 3 - 4 ounces. (Sad, but true!)

If you visit calorieking.com, you can enter food into the database to get the nutritional breakdown. It's a great site! For brie, a 0.6 oz serving has 0.1 g of carbs. You can adjust the amount on the website & it'll recalculate the totals for you.

Good luck with the induction phase! It's hard, but it'll be worth it!!

We all have to learn and looks like you are doing just that. WTG on the 5 lbs lost so far. Carry the list and after awhile you will be more comfortable with your choices. But hang in there and enjoy the ride to good health and a slimmer you.
