  • menu suggestions for kids?

    Hi there.
We'll have a birthday party this weekends and I'm killing myself right now trying to figure out what to put on table. There has to be things I could eat and what kids (ages 2 to 10) would eat, as well as their parents... This is tough one for me, really. I don't want to tempt myself too much, but I don“t want any "long faces" from kids or "oh too fatty" from parents. How do you manage such situations? Thanks!

How about one of those long subs?? You can eat the deli meat, cheese and mayo. And have a vegi platter with it with added cucumbers and peppers for you with an approved dip?? I was at a party this weekend and thank god they had these things there cause there was NOTHING else I could eat!!

Children that age usually like to play with their food. So make finger food type things:

Cut up veggies and fruit. Make dips--savory and sweet.
Make meatballs, with different sauces for them to dip into.
Make finger sandwiches: chicken and egg, tuna, etc.

You can even do a "fajita" station: grill chicken breast and slice into bite sized pieces, arrange on a platter with grilled vegetables, like bell peppers, onions. Add sliced tomatoes, lettuce and different grated cheeses. Provide tomato salsa, sour cream and guacamole. They can have their fajitas with tortillas, you can either wrap your fajita in a large lettuce leaf or eat it as a salad. This will give each child/parent control over what goes onto the individual fajita.
