I think I remember reading that when we look at our Total Carbs in Fitday, we should subtract our Total fiber from that number to get our true carb count?? Is this right? Sorry, I have been reading so much information it's hard to keep it all straight!!

Re: Confusion on Carbs minus Fiber
Yep! Net carbs equal total carb count minus fiber.

Re: Confusion on Carbs minus Fiber
Of course the other confusing thing that UK Atkineers find is that our labels already have the fibre carbs deducted from the total carbs - so our labels mean 'net carbs' when they say 'total carbs'Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: Confusion on Carbs minus Fiber
I know it can be confusing at first, and I know that getting "Read the book!" doesn't come across as very helpful, but you have to understand that there are so many people who just don't read it, and don't have the basics straight in their head (i.e.-don't know about the 3 cup veggie thing, don't understand the affect foods have on blood sugars, etc).
Please please keep the questions coming, and don't be offended when we tell you to read the book.
There is a LOT to know when it comes to Atkins, and it can seem quite overwhelming. Take some time to read the stickies and the FAQ's as well...and refer back to them often, because when a person is fixated on finding out one thing, it's easy to overlook a lot of other helpful info.
Hang in there, folks!!

Re: Confusion on Carbs minus Fiber
It really takes quite a bit of thought at first! I am on day 11 and I am realizing that it's not just picking the foods off the approved list but learning how to eat the foods off the list. Like spreading out your vegies. I couldn't do that last week because I can't bring myself to eat vegies for breakfast! (I'm a firm believer in only breakfast foods for breakfast!) But by lunchtime my head was pounding! So this week I found the Jicama oatmeal recipe and I love it!! I throw in a hardboiled egg for some fat and I'm set till lunch!! Its a whole new way of thinking!Originally posted by MoochiecatI know it can be confusing at first, and I know that getting "Read the book!" doesn't come across as very helpful, but you have to understand that there are so many people who just don't read it, and don't have the basics straight in their head (i.e.-don't know about the 3 cup veggie thing, don't understand the affect foods have on blood sugars, etc).
