  • Day 14 & I'm staying here for a while!

Honestly, this is the best I've felt since I was a child - sooo much energy, sleeping a lot less, i just feel so alive! No more depression or mood-swings either - how cool is that!?!?!

I have no clue if or how much weight I've lost, and I could care less. I started this hoping to feel physically better and that has been accomplished, so any weight lost will just be a bonus!

Anyone know for sure if eating <20 carbs/day forever is damaging in any way?

Its not good forever and you might not feel the same forever either. Extended induction can be done for a while, (months) but make sure you take your supplements and vary your veggies. When you get close to goal, you need to start moving up the ladder, its all in the book Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution.
Glad you feel better, especially the depression part.

      Hi Blueskies
      Welcome to our ADBB family.

As Desertthorn said - induction is not for ever, but you can stay on it for a long time if you ar happy with the up-to-20 carb level and are not getting bored with the food on the induction-legal list.

There is a sticky on this forum called 'should I stay or should I go' which discusses just this decision.
      http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5780
Everyone should read this when they are approaching th end of their initial 14 days of induction to see if it is sensible to continue with 'more of the same' or move on to the next phase of Atkins, as well as read the relevant chapter of DANDR 2002,

OWL is the MAIN weightloss stage of Atkins as it is when you will find out how many carbs you can eat and still lose, in preparation for knowing how many carbs you can eat and not put on weight when you have reached goal.

Also it is the time we can find out if any particular foods affect us badly - some people find one specific cheese stalls weightloss or that celery can bring on cravings, or that they cant eat soy products etc. This happens as we gradually add more carbs and different foods one at a time and observe what happens to our weight and our wellbeing.

It has been described here as the great scientific experiment with each of us being both the scientist and the lab rat to learn just how foods affect us personally, and if skimped or ignored by staying on induction till you reach goal can result in a person gradually regaining the weight they have lost or even gaining extra pounds in the future!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Oh - I forgot - if you do decide to stay on induction Atkins for a while you will need to start posting in the 'Extended Induction' forum instead of this one.
