Congratulations on your loss so far - you really are doing well

You can have decaffeinated teas AS WELL as your water, but not instead of it.

    As to aspartame
We discourage the use of aspartame (marketed as NutraSweet and Equal) because of clinical observations that it slows weight loss in certain individuals.
Any sweeteners shoudl be counted as being one of the three servings of sweetener we are allowed per day - so if one cup of the tea is called 'one serving' then you can have 3 cups as long as you have no other sweetened food/drink each day.

Drinking water is vital to your Atkins success as well as your health. Atkins is a 'diuretic' way of eating, which means you will be needing to 'pee' a lot!
Because you will be losing lots of liquid you do need to take in more water than you are used to or you will dehydrate!!

It is generally recommended here in UK that everyone needs to drink at least 2 litres of water a day, even if not on a diuretic' way of eating!!

So we need to drink more than that when we are trying to lose weight.
Read this sticky about the importance of water and how much we need to drink - you will need to drink more water if you are trying to lose lots of weight - to help convince you to persevere in the water intake

Way to go Scorpio!!! Awesome on the 9 pounds. I loathe drinking water too, but if it'll make me lose weight i gotta drink up! You can also try carb options by lipton, It is decaffeinated ice tea mix with NO CARBS and sweetened with splenda!! I drink it it's really good but count every 8oz as 1 carb(for the splenda intake) It's a little sweet for me so i only mix half a little tub with water a a time but i'm sure you have your own preferences. Good Luck!!

As Elizellen says, only plain water counts towards your water intake. Anything you have beyond that (anything flavoured, any teas or coffee) is not to be included.

You could add a slice of lemon or a slice of cucumber to 'freshen' up your water though!

            weight ot go.

GLad you ask before you drank it. you will be surprized to know most ADBBer didn't like water when they started either, but it just sort of grew on them just as it will you. See if you can find a taste you enjoy by changing the temp of the water. I know I like the taste of "ice cold" better then out of the tap or off the shelf.

Dr Atkins is very specific in DANDR about what we can add to drink AFTER the water is drunk. decafe teas are allowed but watch your sweeteners. save some money and make your own. you can 1/3 fill an emptey water bottle with the stuff. tip it on side slightly angling the neck up and whn it freezes you csan fill the rest with more tea and have a cold drink to go with you.
