Do i need to count each can of diet rite as 1 carb unit? Both fitday and the can do not list any carbs for a can. Also, I'm at my 5% of carbs but my net carbs are only 12, i have my 2 cups of salade veggies and the 1 cup of other veggies in there. Should i add more veggies? or add something else? .

This is what i have put in so far at fitday

    Breakfast
    2 large eggs
    2 oz. cooked steak
    1oz. monterey cheese(No Carbs!! )
    1 medium celery stalk
    2.5 tablespoon cheese

    Lunch
    1 cup romaine lettece
    .5 cup tomatoe
    1 hardboiled egg
    1 slice bacon

    Dinner
    2 oz Tilapia
    1 cup cauliflower
    1 tbls butter(unsalted)

    Snack
    1 Mozzerella string cheese(1oz)

    Berverages
    100 oz water
    8oz decaffeinated tea
    1 sweet n low
    1 red raspberry diet rite(yum )

    And fitday concludes:
    Carbs:5%
    Fat:65%
    Protein:30%
    Net Carbs:12
    Cals:945

    Re: Diet Rite

It would be best to avoid soda and eat/drink fresh natural things for the first two weeks so you can get a good clear view of what your metabolic resistance is (page 158 in DANDR) and so that you get a leg up on dealing with the sugar addiction so many of us start out with:

After that you can choose whether to add processed chemical stuff back in and it's probably best to count it as 1 carb plus 1 sweetener count against your 3 sweetener limit for the day.

yep, the sweetener is fine(and page 128 in DANDR specifies which sweeteners you can use and which to avoid) as long as you don't exceed 3 for the day.

dont worry about not getting the maximum 20 carbs, as long as you are eating to the allowed list and not gong hungry!

You are counting the carbs in eggs and cheese I assume?
Eggs have about .6 carbs each and Dr Atkins said we should count each ounce of cheese as one carb.
Here is the quote from DANDR
*All cheeses have some carbohydrate content. The quantity you eat should be governed by that knowledge. The rule of thumb is to count 1 ounce of cheese as equivalent to 1 gram of carbohydrate.
Actually fitday has monterey cheese as being 0.19 carbs per ounce - I entered in 100 ounces to work that out, it said 19 carbs for 100 oz!

We ought to get over half of our carbs from our veggies, so it is worth looking at some of the more 'carby' 2-cup veggies instead of the almost no-carb ones, or you might find you were getting most of your carbs from sweeteners, eggs and cheese!!

When I started to realise that, I used to enter in all the veggies first in fitday to see if I was getting near the 10-carb figure and change veggies to make sure I was allowing myself enough carbs in total to have a good amount of egg and cheese carbs as well!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
