OK This makes 1 week I have been on introduction.I feel better in general.I have lost 5 lbs in 1 week which I am happy about.My problem is I have a question.The last couple of days when I am hungry I have been snacking on a salad.Yesterday I actually had a whole thing of broccolli.I think that was probably to many carbs.Would I be better off instead of over doing it with salad just to make me a couple of eggs or maybe a burger patty for a snack...?I cant seem to stop wondering if I would not have overindulged in salad these few days maybe I would have lost a couple more lbs or inches.Thank you for any advice anyone can give me!

These goals maybe pushing it but I am gonna give it my all.
Re-Start Date: March 31, 2008
Starting Weight: 265 lbs. Highest ever!
Goal Weight: 175 lbs. (as of now)
Goals:
1)April 30th- 250 lbs.
2)June 9th- (My 35th Birthday)225 lbs.
3)July 29th- (Parents 36th Anniversary)199 lbs.:dancing1
*To be under 200 lbs for the first time since I was a teen would be the best gift I could give them.

I think it is pretty hard to overindulge in salad, as long as you are avoiding the starchier stuff like carrots.
Protein is, however, a good snack - fills you up well. Maybe a slice of cheese as well when you get the munchies?
% lbs is good for week 1 - stick with it and the pounds will just melt off!Odille

the 3 cups of veggies and the cheese are the only thing we limited on.
Atkins is a ketogenic plan and that means inorder for ue to be successful we need insulin levels low so fats can be burned for fuel. While yoursnacks were very healthy low GI veggies the still need insulin generated to burn off and that maens fat buring is on hold and fats in the blood stream are actually being stored.
So take a look at yoour acceptable foods and pic a high fat snack.
remember to do Atkins 65% of your cals need to be in the form of fats either as pure fats, or in combination fats and proteins foods.

I need to ask you if you've read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002 (DANDR for short).
It will give you two veggie lists and it tells you how much you are allowed a day. The more you know about how to do Atkins correctly, the better your chances for success.
The book also gives you the 'why' behind the diet, and why it's not a great idea to eat a lot of vegetables at one sitting. Especially in the beginning stages of Atkins.
You have done quite well with the loss you mention, but as you say, who knows how much would you have lost if you had been following the diet to the letter.

And never have just vaggies as a snack - always add some fat to make it a highfat+lowcarb snack.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
