  • Scale doesn't tell the whole story..

I have decided, after all the wonderful advise everyone has given me, not to be sooo focused on the numbers on the scale but rather refer to my measuring tape.

Question: is there an average amount of inches loss during induction? I know for weightloss you should expect between 5-10%. It may depend on the individual I suppose. Also..when everyone says 'I lost 3inches this week'..are they refering to their waist going from say 30in to 27in or loosing a total of 3inch?...1in from waist, 1in from chest..etc..

Sorry for the silly questions! Just trying to be on top of things..I've journaled this whole week in fitday, haven't thought about getting on the scale, ate only from acceptable foods list and haven't missed a day of exercise!!
I hope my results show in two weeks!

Nope, there is no average inches lost for induction. You might not lose any inches during Induction, then suddenly you begin losing dress sizes.

Make sure you exercise because that will help to firm up the flab and make you smaller.

i dont know about an average but for me, inches is the way to go. i've only lost about 5 pounds but i've lost more than 13 inches total. it's great.

i beleive when ppl say they've lost X inches, it's a total number...ie: 1 1/2 from the waist, 2 from the hip, 1 from the chest, etc.

In terms of the focussing on the scales thing, you are right.

A healthy eating plan is one that you replicate for teh rest of your life without being hungry or deprived. As Atkins is the ideal plan for optimum human nutrition, you should look at eating this way for the rest of your life regardless of the pound slost, or the inches lost.

Weight loss is just a side-effect. And what a side effect!!!

When I talk about inches lost, I am talking about total from all measurements. Although the scale showing pounds lost is great! in the long run, I'd rather see the inches lost. That's what determines how I will look. Besides, I'm building muscle (which weighs more) so in the end, I won't care what the scale says, but how I look in those cute hip huggers!!
