  • One Week Done & Success

Well one full week of induction down...I lost 9 lbs. I was hoping for a little more, but that's not to bad. My stomach isn't so big (thank goodness) and my clothes are already not quite as tight. So I can't complain. Just grateful.

Really craving sweets..I ate an Atkins Endulge bar last night...know I'm not suppose to, but I just had to have a bite of something sweet. Seemed to work that craving is gone now.

Seems like this time it has been harder, more cravings and wanting to eat all the time, but then that was my habit before I started a week ago. But I think the personal things I'm going thru right now have a lot to do with that too.

Anyway hope the next week goes well too. I'm trying, my will power isn't as strong as it should be because I'm not as strong mentally or physically as I should be, but I'm trying one day at a time.

congratulations on your loss so far - 9 pounds in a week is great!!

Next time you get sweets cravings try instead to have a non-sweet snack to shut your sugar monster up!!

One thing our bodies have to learn is that it is us who decides what is going to be eaten - not our sweet tooth!! Feed it with a highfat yummy snack instead to tell your sugar monster that you are calling the tue!n
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            Hey Denise,
9 lbs!!! Just think about it... that's 9 lbs that you will never ever have to carry around again. Just how awesome is that? And, the good thing is, this is just the beginning. We're all here on the same journey, yours (and mine) is really just starting.

Yeah, try to stay away from those bars... even if they say Atkins on them, I think the Good Dr. A. wouldn't want us to use them except in emergencies. As Elizellen said, chose a good high fat snack that fits in with this WOE, it's easy! Pretty soon you won't even crave those sweets! You can do it, I know you can.

Hey, if I can give up potato chips, you can give up sweets! Before starting this WOE I would routinely sit down with a full bag of chips (not the small ones), and a jar of dip and gorge down the whole thing. Today I walk right by that part of the store and don't have a second thought. I'm amazed really. Again, if I can do it, so can you.

You're off to a great start, keep it up and we'll see you reaching goal before you know it!

Original goal: Lose 30 lbs by Mar. 1st, 2006. I made it!!!

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

Re: One Week Done & Success

9 pounds is awesome, now please stay away from the scale.

Notice what your ego did - it said, 9 pounds wasn't enough.
Which is ridiculous. Its irrational thinking and it is masochism.

Would you have ever said that to a friend? If a friend said I just lost 9 pounds - would you have said to them, "I'm sorry thats just not enough. I'm really disappointed."

Of course not. There are times when we are kinder to our friends, than we are to ourselves. But part of the Atkins journey is learning to be very our very own best friend.
Be kind when you speak to yourself and very supportive of
              your Atkins lifestyle.

Please rely on your tape measure for more reliable information.
Stay on Atkins at least two months before jumping to any conclusions.

The body deserves to set its own time frame in regards to weight loss. Respect your body and give it the time that it needs.

You will lose sizes that won't show on the scale. I experienced this personally. I went from a size 22 to a size 16 - and the scale didn't budge!

If you are craving a sweet make yourself a mock danish.
They are easy, delicious and induction friendly.

You can do this. If you let your body fall deeply in ketosis, you won't need will power - you will naturally desire the foods that keep you healthy and losing weight.
Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary. Eckhart Tolle
