  • My First Day on Induction Sooo much food

Hi all, I did it! I started my induction today and to be honest Im miserable. Im sooo full and I havent even had dinner yet.

So far today I have had

    Breakfast
2 Scrambled eggs with a slice of cheese cooked in butter.

Lunch: 1/4 of a cucumber sliced and dipped in Mayo
4 Slices of Roast Beef and 1 slice of Swiss cheese also dipped these in mayo. Total Mayo was 2 tbs.

    Snack: Beef Jerky

Thats what I have had so far plus 4 16 oz bottles of water and I am so stuffed the thought of dinner makes me .

I have Beef tips that I cooked in the crockpot for dinner along with a cup of brocoli and califlower mix with butter planned. Im hoping by dinner time which is another hour and a half away ill be hungry again.

Did you all have trouble with the amount of food you could eat? Did it seem like too much? Would it be ok to just have 1 egg in the morning and maybe 2 slices of Meat for lunch instead of 4? I have been reading my book but Im not real clear on if I have to eat a certain amount to be sucessful or is it just what makes me full? I know I have to have the fats and protien balance but if I am balancing it with smaller amounts is that ok?

    Thanks for your help

Eating smaller amounts is what Atkins is all about. I think you missed a very important part of DANDR. You don't have to eat all that food. you can IF you are hungry eat food but here are no set minimums nor maximums for total food consumed.

We eat only enough food to satisfy our hunger and stop PERIOD even if food is on the plate carbs in our buget room in our belly or any other reason you can think of to over eat your Atkins.

Since you are not hungry don't eat. when you get hungry have a small meal with some veggies some fast and some carb. If you reach the 6 hour waking rule and have to eat again Dr Atkins told you to have a bit of carb and fat or ptorien.

tomorrow have the egg with the cheese or without and some of your veggie carbs and see if it holds you to lunch. if you get hungry before luch have a snack. try your smaller protions at lunch too and see. fit your food intake to your hunger. It will vary too as you continue on your Atkins. some days you will be very hungry and need more food and others you aren't so you eat less. learn to listen to your hunger and you will be a big Atkins loser.

    Happy low carbing.

On Atkins you need to eat to lose weight...but you certainly don't have to over eat.
In time you'll get back in tune with your stomach and know when enough is enough.

By all means if one egg satisfies you for breakfast, stop at the one egg...but don't ever skip breakfast...it jumpstarts your metabolism and gets the fatburning going for the day.

If you decide to have a smaller breakfast, plan to take along a snack you can have between breakfast and lunch just in case you feel you need it.

Lots of us, as 2Big says, eat smaller meals through the day rather than the basic 3 squares. I enjoy eating like this..it makes me feel really spoiled to be able to eat every so often through the day.
She also mentions how some days you'll find you need less and some days are 'hungry' days. Generally it all balances out.

Are you using www.fitday.com to chart your foods? It's very handy, it's free, and here's a sticky to help you learn what it can do for you:
